That car looks so unsettled on a track.. weight shifting all over the place like everywhere and with that weight it doesn’t really matter how hard the suspension is! Mindbending a concept like this exists.

@@LlyleHunter I can answer that last one: Model X has about 100 kWh battery pack. One gallon of gasoline contains 36 kWh of energy. So that huge 100 kWh battery pack is equivalent to just 3 gallons of gas. To achieve a range of 328 miles, they need to be extremely efficient, and the classic SUV body style is not that aerodynamic.

Yeah, the thing looks so uncomfortable drifting. It snaps out then punches back in like "There, I let you drift for half a second, are you happy now? PS, please don't do it again." Also the wheel lifting isn't great.

I've tracked an X3M Comp, unsettled is not a term I would use to describe it and the dynamics seem verys similar between the two.

These things are seriously impressive. My GF bought an X3M Comp and let me track it at Road Atlanta a few weekends ago and I was incredibly proud of it. I ran times on par with some of the pole winners at Global Time Attack and I was holding back ALOT. A BMW M nut was born that day. It did great, no temp issue, no annoying understeer, the Continental tires did great, i had zero complaints.

@@lego4virgo Because to much weight would be on the back, therefore you would have to drive completely differently since the back would be pulling the car at corners in the opposite direction. And that's only one issue. Wagons are only good for straight line and funky designs

The X4 is the mean little brother of the X6. And I agree with many that on paper, they logically don’t make sense. The first time I saw a Cayenne and then a X6, I puked and thought, what an abomination.. You either love them or hate them. Having owned a X4 M40i and X4M, I freaking love them. Sports car, station wagon, safety vehicle, all in one - can’t make up your mind - solid, solid automobile that is an absolute beast. And O- 60 in 3.3seconds ... repeat, 3.3 seconds ... that’s almost too much fun to be legal. That beats a M4 (oops), Mercedes and Porsche .... with my lawn mower strapped in the back on my way to Home Depot. Hmm

An idea....When you have to fly somewhere for a car review, some airports have a McDonald's, Tim Horton's or Starbucks coffee shop. Get a free cup from them or buy a drink and rinse the cup and take it with you on the plane. Check connecting flight airports as well... or just take one of those reuseable mugs with you (to reduce waste). Some cars have "wack" cupholders.

Just got one of these on a 48 month contract, £600 per month, £1,500 deposit, I dont know where, for that kind of money, you can drive this kind of new car, with that performance, with that much space, that looks this good, has more extra's than Gladiator, and goes like a bat out of hell. I am glad that sales are that poor that BMW are discounting them by 25%, I cant wait to get mine next month.

Impractical vehicles, but they’re different. Granted, I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t just get an M2 or something of the sort instead, since the X4 isn’t a practical vehicle anyway.

As for the column vs wheel mounted paddles, if you're steering enough that you can't reach column mounted paddles then you shouldn't really be shifting, your downshifting should be done under braking before turn in so you shouldn't really need to reach them mid corner. Which is why imho coloumn mounted paddles are superior.

We took our Cayenne Turbo S on VIR. Why? Because it was the vehicle we traveled to the races in. It actually handled really well with 3 people and luggage in it. We now own a 2020 BMW X5 M50i. By comparison, I would definitely NOT want to take that one on a track. It handles okay and is decently quick, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Cayenne Turbo S's handling or speed. It's only down ~50 HP and TRQ on the Cayenne, but, apparently, that 50 HP/TRQ makes a much bigger difference than I expected. I don't believe it's that much heavier than the Cayenne, either. The folks at Porsche really know how to build a vehicle.

Yeah I don't get collumn paddles. You always know which hand is your left hand so you just have to trigger the fingers. On the column you have to think which hand is on the left for example then actuate the fingers.
