2020 BMW X5 Review: The Most Balanced (Base Trim) Midsize SUV!

The 2020 BMW X5 is a fantastic MIDSIZE luxury SUV. At just over $64,000 it arrives at the perfect intersect between luxury and affordability, size and sportiness! This X-Drive (AWD) 40i model sports a peppy inline 6 that gets the car moving. It has a ton of upgrades inside, that make it a huge step up from the previous generation X5... here I take it on a drive and further discuss why I like it, and how in compares to some of its rivals.

Mine is the S-drive that even closer to Base Trim, just comes with a convenient package. The lack of the camera feature indeed bothers me a bit just like what you said. But if you do like driving, the technology, in my opinion, doesn't do much, and they sometimes bother me such as the intervention feature which I turned it off since the very first day. And I don't even look at the blind spotlight.

@@anthonyhudson431 I don't necessarily think it's a waste, but I would probably buy a low mile CPO over buying new OR leasing new and buying at the end (depends on the programs on the car / individual financial situation.) My only mod is the front splitter, which I may take off and sell cause it's in pretty good shape !

I’m loving the bigger Kidney Grills- I say BMW should keep rolling with them for a decade or so until the the next trend can be developed.

That’s an interesting take - I think they’ve already fully committed. The 4 series is proof, I think it works better on certain models than others. I’m always willing to let things settle in, but I don’t like it too much on the regular 4 series... too bulbous

I also think the execution of the larger grille is key... on the 7 series it looks nice, on the new M3/M4 it kinda works... on the regular 4 series, not so much! (Because it’s more bulbous, doesn’t extend all the way down, and lacks the vertical slats) So we’ll see how that continues on forthcoming models

The X5 is definitely a superior midsize SUV compared to its competition. My only complaint is I miss the heavy steering in the X5.

I completely agree, I didn’t wanna dwell on it since just about every car suffers from it (having electric vs hydraulic) but yes the delightful steering of the E53 and E70 will be forever missed 😢
