I test drove a CT4 this week. Braking is excellent, if a little too sensitive. Steering I really liked with a good on center feel but I didnt seem to get much road feedback throught it. Handling was good, compliant, composed but i was able to get the rear axle to hop for a moment as I was speeding through an intersection (at posted speed) that had a slight change in pavement crown height. As the sprung weight of the car went up, the rear axle immediately lost grip and it felt disconnected for a moment and when the axles reconnected, they chirped, very odd sensation from the drivers seat. Acceleration is OK or acceptable. I’m able to merge with traffic and pass without much problem, but the base four cylinder engine is made to work hard and makes unpleasant noises. Interior room up front is ok, but I’m average height at 5”10 and my legs feel confined in the long tunnels down to the footwells. The backseat has no legroom for adults when my driver seat is adjusted for my driving position and my hair rubs against the headliner. Bottom line, this is more of a two passenger car and its interior is not comfortable for a long trip due to the “intimate” feel of the interior dimensions. The CT4 I drove was a murdered out black on black Sport trim level. The black on black makes the whole cramped interior feel even smaller even in the front seat. Make sure you opt for the lighter color interior like in this video. Also, fuel economy is not very good for the lack of acceleration from the base motor. If you opt for the more powerful engine, the price goes up and fuel economy will not improve.

Thanks for the thorough review. Appreciate your comments about the foreign competitors. Cadillac has a winner. Looking forward to a CT4 V Blackwing with true V levels of performance.

I bought this exact same car, same color for 36K. You can't have a better deal. There is plenty of luxury, crazy acceleration, excellent motor sound. The sound quality in the car is incredible. I love the interior. Sitting in the back is a bit tight but I use my car mostly alone. I just don't understand why GM didn't include lane departure and adaptive cruise control. Except for that, this car is an excellent deal.

@@chicoeur619 I got mine on Thursday (had to wait for the factory to get the computer chips). I have the lane departure warning and the adaptive cruise. I absolutely love mine!!

Will golf clubs fit in the trunk? Looks a little small. Thanks!

Good review Mike....looks like the CT4 is a car to look at if you're the premium vehicle market

no, ATS has a few more features and a little more room, ATS has rear armrest storage, and a lightly larger interior.

i wish this car came with a v6 or at least an engine like the ats 2.0t had. apparently older cadillac engines make more power (new turbo 2.0t makes 230 or so and the previous gen made 270-280)

I was debating between the 3 series and A class but the A class is too gaudy inside and I hate their display. Love that the 3 series has eco mode and I read a review that you can get close to 42 mpg on the highway on this mode but the exterior looks dated (but still my top contender). However, I recently saw this Cadillac and I have to say that I really like the design outside and in. I drive a 2011 Saab 9-5 and it’s too much car for me since I have no kids so I’m looking for fuel economy (gas car) and luxury feeling. Just wish this car had an eco mode like bmw but I have to agree w you that it seems like you are getting a lot more for your money with the caddie
