Great vid. Been to the top 3 times. Last time was 20 years ago. I hear they put a bridge across the Wenlock. Nolan’s was always a pain in the ass. Some good tips on preparing your truck. Lift out alternators with all the water crossings. Get a Bra for your truck and because of the corrugated roads get a sports Bra for the Misses.
@BradleyPaton4 жыл бұрын
solid advice, but sports bra not necessary. That only increases carrying weight and reduces fuel economy. I told the missus to leave at home.👍
@samartz4 жыл бұрын
What do you meany by lift out alternators?
@petercharles25754 жыл бұрын
Sydney Hustler Hi Syd. Alternators will play up and stop charging if they get submerged. People who own late model Land Cruises will take a spare or the rich will buy a water cooled sealed alternator. No battery power nothing will work.

I live just North of Cairns up in the rain forest and when it comes to choosing when, November is seriously underrated. The wet starts later than they advertise in the brochures. When I have family up, I get them up here in November. Blue skies, sunshine, usually pretty decent visibility on the reef, hardly any crowds, off season rates and if it is going to rain, you're going to get a pretty dramatic thunderstorm along with it. The really heavy flooding monsoonal rains don't set in until late December or January, but the first decent rains and thunderstorms will start to come in November. If you can make those tracks early after the wet you'll do them easy at the tail end of the dry. Bring your widest wide angle lens, the sky can be amazing when a storm is coming. If you can camp comfortably in the rain, it's an incredible time to see the tropics.

Curious as to why you guys dont run either an antirock sway bar system or use quick disconnect sway bar links? your off road capabilities would go through the roof and it would stabilize your vehicles in situations that cause wheel lift saving you 9 times out of 10 from rolling your rig and doubling your traction by allowing all 4 tires to consistently stay on the ground! being able to flex your suspension/axles is everything!!.. food for thought!!!! I do love your show it is probably the best one out there better than the ones we have here in America! look forward to all your futture episodes

one thing you should do for river crossing is put a tarp, "arb crossing cover" or similar to stop water destroying the fan blades when in the water as the blade can break off and go threw the radiator and then you could have a major issue on the tracks

Hi Graham I deeply enjoyed this vid about doing Cape York as I'm planning to do it this year. Last November I bought a 76 Series Landcruiser and had it fitted out as my campervan. One year ago I bought it actually right across from overseas after discovering that traveling Australia became so bloody cheap thanks to your weak Aussie bucks. As a solo teaveller I would love to know when you're up there. I would like to meet cause it's your 'fault' I'm doing that kind of adventure. Cheers mate, dan

@veneratedmortal43694 жыл бұрын
You say start at 30psi but if you use your manufacturer specs they probably reccomend 30 for the road. I would recommend 20 to 25 depending on your load. When I went up I used 25 and they never got hot. Save your back, save your shock absorbers save your car from rattling to pieces, suspension, mounts, rubbers arms etc, tyres are cheap and easy to fix or change.
@4WD2474 жыл бұрын
Yep. Graham would run 25 - but need to be careful with recommending that for everyone. If you’re towing or really heavy - 25 might be a bit too low. For most - it’ll be pretty much bang on for the corrugations
