I put the spacer on top of the strut and got 2” of lift, I added Goodyear Trailrunner 265/65-18 tires, zero rubbing! I drove my truck 10 miles and got a front end alignment. Toe was way off!

How’s the ride quality? I have almost the exact same setup just without the sway bar drop, other than that it’s identical and my front end feels super stiff and it makes me want to lower the front end a little bit. Once I do that though I’m not getting the full 3 inches of lift I wanted
@gregfolwell860 Жыл бұрын
I think the ride quality is good, it is stiffer than stock for sure. I have roughly 36k miles on the setup now. I feel like it’s settled in now and soften up, or I’ve just gotten used to it at this point.

What was the offset of your wheels? I have the same size tire, but have a zero offset Icon Rebounds.

I have the exact same setup except for the wheels and tires. Quick question. What is the exact measurement of the exposed thread you got on your coilovers? And is the height you have set on your coilovers? Thanks Man
@gregfolwell8603 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response, waited until I got the truck on the lift for an oil change. So the exposed threads on the bottom of the coil over measure 1.5 inches,. I set it as high as it would go, so somewhere around 3 inches
@jakeg69253 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg. How’s the ride at 3” inches? Did you install anything else in the rear besides the shocks?
@gregfolwell8603 жыл бұрын
It’s noticeable firmer than stock, but in my opinion it’s not bad, it feels more planted to me. I also think that the E rated tires contributes to the ride quality. In the back I also added a 1.5” add a leaf. I have roughly 7500 miles on the setup and no complaints

Have you been in a situation where one front wheel is off the ground with your new setup? Just curious how that new UCA and Coilover handle something like that, along with the limit straps being cut. I'm considering this setup for my 2017 Z71 Diesel and there are some wheeling here in MI that get a wheel or 2 off the ground. Great video, very detailed!
@gregfolwell8602 жыл бұрын
I’ve articulated it a little, not to the extent of a wheel off the ground. It did fine, rubbed a little. The majority of what I do is logging roads and very mild jeep trails

Did you buy the lift components as a kit? I checked on the peak website and I didn’t see any of the kits with the freedom off road upper control arms. They run with Baja kits and dirt kings. I’ve got the exact same truck only it’s a 2017 your set up looks good!
@gregfolwell8602 жыл бұрын
I pieced it together, tried to do it on a budget. The thing I liked most about the freedom off-road uppers is it had a greaseable ball joint. The other UCA’s on the market are double the price and have uniball ball joint that aren’t greaseable. So far not issues. I’ve got 20k miles on em and grease em every other oil change

Anyone else do the rear shocks? does housing go down or up? I've seen other videos where they put housing up and boot down.

Nice job! What did you do to correct speedometer for larger tires?
@gregfolwell8603 жыл бұрын
I haven’t done anything yet, I have tuning that will take care of that and other things. For now I just figured the tire size difference at roughly 7% and figure it’s about 3-4 mph off at 60 and above

Did you end up installing the diff drop?

No, haven’t had a problem in 25k plus miles

How are the Upper Control Arms holding up? Mine starting to have some play :(
@gregfolwell8603 жыл бұрын
So far no issues, I only have around 5k miles on them. Where are you getting the play?
@Nelson10020023 жыл бұрын
@@gregfolwell860 tire shop said its the UCA bushings but I installed King 2.5 coilovers so they may be too large for the control arms to handle
@gregfolwell8603 жыл бұрын
My guess would be oversized tires that that caused premature wear. I wouldn’t think the coil over would effect it much, but that said I don’t know that for certain
