Lifting a Duramax Diesel Chevy Colorado

Parts List Below
In this video I show my tow pig some love. I install a 4' lift kit on my duramax colorado. I wanted to keep a stock ride but with a little more flash. I went with a 4' Max track lift spindle up front and a 2" pro comp add a leaf in the rear with some fox shocks to top it off.

Glad I found this video. Just installed these same MaxTrac spindles on my 2018 Colorado 2WD! With the Readylift 3.5SST kit and Eibach shocks and a 1.5in rear block on 265/70-18in tires.

I'm going to look into these spindles. I got an icon stage 3 kit installed on the truck but it only lifted the truck an inch and a half

That icon kit is bad ass. The spindles are a guaranteed 4 inches. Still going strong and looking good. However if you have 4wd these won’t work

Awesome video, been thinking about doing it on my gasser. On the gas version is it still needed to cut the tie rod top to fit the stock wheels. Also does the swearing wobble after this lift and how smooth is the ride? Thanks in advance for making the video.

Thanks bro. Yes mostly only needed for the stock wheels. Not too sure on the gas model but assuming they are the same. No steering wobble, how ever i did get an alignment just for the hell of it! Ride is dead smooth. Tire are a little noisy but im okay with that

Could you get by with running 1.5” spacers rather than get new wheels?

You mentioned that the front is higher because of the add a leaf so would the lift block that the kit comes with make it more level? Also do you feel that the 4” lift is enough for you or would you had preferred the 6.5” lift?

So the 4” spindle lift is paired with 2” block in the rear to make it level. But I went with the add a leaf for towing purposes but its only about a 1.5” lift. I couldn’t do the 6.5” lift because I park in an underground structure. But 8”i would have preferred the 6.5” because I could have put bigger tires (35’s)

I actually bought the wheels and tires used but im sure you can get them from any off road shop (4 wheel parts etc.). The wheels are called Fuel recoil

Do you think it’d be possible to upgrade the upper and lower control arm to Baja kits prerunner kit while also running the maxtrac 6.5 lift setup.

That’s what I plan on doing for my rado then for the rear use the rough country 4.5” block, 1” lift upgraded leaf springs and find Silverado 6”+ shocks for the rear cause rough country shocks are dookie also a 2” body lift so 8.5” up front and 7.5” in the rear

What year is your truck when I click on the link for the add a leaf and go through the purchasing process it says it doesn’t fit in my truck and I have a 2019

Yea it said it didn’t fit my truck either. I had to drill the leaf spring hole out to accept my larger bolt that my truck required. Theres a better alternative that someone sells on ebay

I did not change gears. It pulls it effortlessly but you have to baby it because the trans temps climb fast on steep inclines

I have a 2020 ZR 2 with the Duramax. Was a truck I've wanted now for some time. What a POS. Sat in the shop two months after I took delivery of the truck for 34 days. Had to have Chevy engineers come out to diagnose the issues. 30k miles and they replaced the short block. Def quality limp mode comes on like the COVID. Back in the shop last week, and Chevy is buying it back through the Lemon Law Presumption - just so disappointing. Beware of the small diesels!

Had one def quality issue and the dealer fixed it. My little truck has been awesome so far. Only about 100k though
