If that engine is only at 20,000 miles when that oil sample was sent, your wear metal numbers will continue to drop and look even better. Excellent report! The moly at 600ppm is going to drop substantially as the engine ages (it tends to stay high up to 30,000-40,000 miles). But I’m with you, I prefer 5,000 mile intervals (even though I’m experimenting with 10,000 mile intervals right now on my Toyota). My oil analysis came back looking amazing.

It was pulled at 30k miles . Toyota did the 20k oil change so I was unable to pull that sample . So it was Toyotas oil that was sampled. I did do the first oil change I believe around 3500 miles ? It’s on here so it was on its 3.rd oil change so wear metals are down at that point . Thank you for the comment . I too usually do 5k max intervals . I will be doing a 30k service soon on my rav4 prime I will get it sampled as well . It doesn’t have nearly the hours though as it’s a plug in hybrid and I run 60-70 percent of my total miles in electric ev mode only

I forced myself to do it, I didn’t accumulate miles quickly due to covid so it literally took a year to get 10k . Oil was still clean ,if it wasn’t I couldn’t have done it I never go over 5k ever lol.Thanks for the comment Bill.

@@JohnDiMartino You're welcome. I go out only when I have to. I still enjoy picking up discarded tools, mowers etc & bring them back to a useful state. With all that I have to do these "pet" projects get put on hold.

What type of oil do you use

At the time I did this video I was only able to get STP brand, but usually I use Mobil one in a 5 quart jug. The oil that was in the car for this oil test was the Toyota bulk 0W 16. The dealer has. My Toyota dealer doesn’t even sell 0-w16 motor oil over-the-counter. You have to let them change your oil and they have it in a bulk container. It’s been about two years since his video was made and since then the zero 16 has gotten to be a lot easier to find at places like Walmart Autozone or Napa

Agree! I gotta be honest though they Oil was so clean in this car it was easy to let it go.At 5k It was still almost impossible to see on the dipstick it was so clean. Very good engine and very easy on the motor oil.

John just curious. Why did you sell the car so soon? It seems like the kind of car you keep until at least 200K.

The market conditions , they were very hard to find last summer so I sold it while the car was still in great shape and worth more than I paid for it new , the roofline was lower than I liked , and finally I was downsizing vehicles . I miss that car but the rav4 prime I replaced it with is great too.
