How many noise do it whit that spark? Here in italy the police is so several about the tuning and the homologation , and i would evaluate a new performance exhaust directly , anyway i find this video very exhaustive, well done , have you any advice for source the same product who have use it ? Because In italy probably is little bit difficult to trace ...that spark have any ID code ?
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
@Giacomo Camposarcuno - I will have a video out very soon with a sound comparison between these two ,so you can probably make a better decision after that. If the police in your area are really strict about noise, then the stock exhaust is probably the way to go. My best guess on how you would source the part in Italy would be to try to buying it directly from the manufacturer. If you can't do that maybe try a site like eBay or amazon. Thank you for watching!

Hi! there, do you remember by chance the O.D. of the insert section ( the one with the mesh) on the Yoshimura. I'm looking to buy one and the hole on my muffler is only 1.25 in. Thank you!!!
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember the dimension but I don’t think it was as much as 1.25”. At least on the muffler on my bike, the OD of the mesh section was quite a bit smaller than the ID of the muffler.

I’ve already made the new flange I need with a friend who has a shop and knows how, and the Yoshimura spark arrestor just arrived, but I just realized I don’t know how to get the circle flange off of it.. I know it’s a stupid question but how do you?
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t remove the circular flange. The fabricated one simply acts as a clamping plate. I did it that way so I wouldn’t need to weld anything. You can certainly remove and re-weld a new flange if you want to go the fancy route. It’s probably the “better” way to do it. But either way will work.

@@Casey_Schmidt oh wait sorry, how exactly did you get the flange to go over the curve? Do I just have to keep opening it up from 36 mm until I can squeeze it? Wouldn’t that make slipping out a possibility?
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
@@thortreslan4509 Indeed. I used a pneumatic die grinder with some grinding tools to open it up just barely enough to get it around the exhaust tip. It’s a slightly loose fit past that because the pipe is biggest at the end. However that plays to your advantage when tuning the alignment when it’a all assembled.

Very informative, I appreciate the video on this as there aren't very many resources out there about this bike's stock exhaust. When I bought mine 2nd hand the original owner had a Big Gun exhaust on it that was WAYYY too loud for my little apartment complex. I bought a stock exhaust off of ebay and this seems like a great way to make it a bit louder but not obnoxious like pretty much all of the aftermarket exhausts for this bike. One question, since the pieces aren't welded together at all has it leaked or vibrated much?
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
@James Bunch - Thank you! I agree, the aftermarket options are a bit too loud for my taste as well. To answer your question, I haven't run the engine with this mod on yet because it is still in the break-in period and I'd like to keep the engine 100% stuck until it hits 300 miles. As soon as the weather warms up and I can get those miles on the bike, I will be posting and update video that will detail the differences in sound, performance, and reliability. Hopefully that will be done by the beginning of April (Fingers crossed). In the meantime, my guess is that it will not leak because there is a semi-metallic gasket where the spark arrestor meets the muffler body. As far as it rattling loose, loctite should prevent the fasteners from backing off and losing clamping pressure. But of course that is just a guess. We will all see this spring how well it works out!
@saylos9223
@saylos9223 3 жыл бұрын
@@Casey_Schmidt Awesome, I just watched the end of the video and saw your explanation. Makes sense, wouldn't want to hurt the engine since its new. I'll probably end up doing this mod myself because it looks simple enough and no welding is involved like the other stock exhaust mods I've seen. Otherwise I just subbed and look forward to what else you do to your CRF! Have a good one, thanks for the speedy reply

Bro fr not even gonna start it Turning your bike on for a little and turning it off once isn’t gonna do anything ruined the whole point of the video
@Casey_Schmidt
@Casey_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
@Jonathan Williams - Turning the engine on and off in a short period of time won't hurt the engine per se, however, with the bike still being in break-in and with it being technically in winter storage, running the engine for such a short time is not ideal. Running the engine without letting it warm up will create moisture build up in the exhaust which leads to corrosion; especially when dealing with cold temps. Also, the point of most of the videos on my channel, including this one, are to focus on the process just as much if not more than the result. In this case, the point of the video was to show how and why I chose the parts/materials for this mod. I also mentioned at the end of the video that I will be doing a detailed follow-up as soon as the bike is out of break-in and winter storage. I appreciate the criticism. Thanks for watching!
