I have both stella and saltiga.. this year i think saltiga bring home the bacon. Smoother, lighter and feel tougher for a flagship reel

actually I'd say the certate might be better in terms of longevity, same gearing and the biggest difference is the Zaion(carbon fiber enforced nylon) vs. aluminium rotor, the thing is, aluminium has less flex, which is good and gives the Saltiga a more solid feel, but it's also heavier and at very high drags will bend permanently and it also has a limited amount of load cycles while the Zaion will never get permanently bend and the load cyyles it can take are just under infinty. probably neithe rrotor will ever fail but in terms of shear durability the Certate takes the edge. also the certate has rubber seals vs mag seals on the handle opening which does just as well with water and better with salt and debrie, also it won't stop working and need to be replaced like a mag seal(though both reels are magsealed in other areas) thi also means you need to unscrew the saltigas handle and rinse the opening while only rinse the outside with the handle attached on the certate. all that being said, two great reels, the only edge the Saltiga has is in the subjective more solid feel and looks and if the size and ratio you want only comes in the Saltiga. PS: they actually produce the same max drag, since they use the same (here the specs also say that but maybe Daiwa US changed the numbers to give the Saltiga an edge), it's really the same reel, except for the reel all differences are cosmetic, everything that makes the Saltiga a great, durable reel is the same in the Certate

Absolutely, yes. The certate SW is extremely close to the saltiga, whereas the saltist is far from the certate. In terms of value, I believe the saltist is overpriced and is nothing more than a magsealed BG MQ, which itself is overpriced IMO. The certate on the other hand, is a slightly watered down saltiga. Looking at Daiwa's entire spinning reel lineup, the certate SW is possibly the best value for an absolute beast of a reel.

Fished my two certates in SW for a week... Got a lot of salt inside which destroyed both reels ... very disappointed. I bought the 2024 Stella and the line roller is absolute rubbish, on the second day it got very noisy. I will only buy Shimanos from now on

Oh dear 😲 don't be so hurry on the negative decision against certate.. you might be making a very small but silly mistake. I've used certate for more than a year now. Every month I use it 3 to 4 times for salt water and still have no issues.

No way I'd pay extra for the saltiga...the weight alone would be a no go. Longevity wise...I doubt theres a significant difference. Waste of $.

If you do your research well before giving accurate information to the community, the Difference is the drag system and the body. Saltiga has ATD drag system and all metal body while certate doesn’t have the ATD drag and Zaion body construction. That’s about it. Internals are same.

All of what you said is wrong. Certate sw does have the exact same atd drag as the saltiga. And the exact same aluminium body as the saltiga. The certate has a Zion rotor only. Some differences in magseal bearings and the saltiga has spool support bearings whereas the certate has a brass washer. And the differences in the handle/knob.
