A couple of years ago I rode for 4 hours to my nearest Ducati Shop just to have a ride on the 2017 model of the DS and couldn’t stop grinning. I couldn’t take out on the main road because here in Thailand they won’t allow it, so only had a small car park to slowly ride round

I own DS ver 2019. I would say its 70/30 road/gravel. Fast enough for highway and agile enough for city ride. I'm 6' and agreed with you on the riding position which is tall (and wish it a bit taller). Its feel like riding super moto bike than the naked bike. One thing I wish is have it a little bit shorter from front to back should have this bike take tight turns and u-turn easier.

They feel similar in terms of height but the sled sags more.... alot more... the suspension for the hyper feels so much better for on road use whereas the sled feels better for off road.
@alpap19803 жыл бұрын
@@hiphopisdead the sled has 50mm more travel that's why it sags more. I am 5 7 aka 1.70 and was fine with the low seat on the sled but fear it will be too high for me even with the low seat on the hyper. Thank you.

@@hiphopisdead I was ok with the Desert Sled that's why I am asking how those two compare. if there is a significant difference then you are right...
@mathias64233 жыл бұрын
@@hiphopisdead It is true that the sled sits a bit more on its ass, hypermotard is higher in the back and stiffer. But you can fully adjust the Desert Sled to make it stiffer and still work pretty good off road. It depends on how much you weigh aswell.

Do we trust yammie?
@michaelmitchell35204 жыл бұрын
Eh, about as much as I trust most youtubers. He took it down to Terlingua I think and was able to manage the bike on some pretty tame double track. Looked like it was super hard to pick up when he dropped it since it's pretty heavy. If you want a bike to ride off road, I'd say this isn't it. If you're looking for maybe a more stylish adventure platform that you only intend to take on some gravel or dirt roads, it's still not the best option unless you really want a bike with an air cooled, desmodromic engine.
@yammienoob4 жыл бұрын
The Sled is AWESOME for light trails and gravel. You can slide the thing around all over the place and it's super playful. I've got a KTM 250 SXF for the serious off-roading (I use it for MX and trails) and you're right, the DS is not a super serious off roader. But as a playful fun bike that can get it off-road, it's sublime. I've taken it on trails in Mexico, Big Bend, and trails in Austin. Thing's a blast. Oh yeah, it loves to do whoolies :)
@michaelmitchell35204 жыл бұрын
@@yammienoob Spoken like a true Ducati biscotti boy! But yeah, the main thing that I feel like I would be super turned off by is the heat. Especially living in Texas and wanting a bike that I can ride in 90+ degrees without ending up with a nice seared sausage and meatballs at the end of the ride.
@yammienoob4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmitchell3520 It's a warm bike, no doubt about it. I don't love taking it out when it's very hot outside, but the 2 valve air cooled engine sounds make up for it :)

Can I be honest for a sec? I like the first rides as well as most of chases stuff (I'm even a patreon) BUT, the completely disconnected car cam shots bug the shit out of me. When chase enters the highway and you can hear him speeding up but the footage is just him following some car it just looks terrible. I get that he might not want to film himself speeding but he then cuts to the helmet cam and the speedo is clearly showing him speeding. And it's like that every single first ride, why not just take the car cam out on the same run? I honestly don't care if you have to occasionally slow down to let them catch up. Rant over, sorry.

I don't know why it bothers me so much but that freaking cable sticking up on all the scramblers but not the cafe racer... WHY? is there a way to hide that like on the cafe racer model it's so much cleaner and nicer looking than a bunch of cables sticking up in your face...

@@franklin23st they were ridden hard and most Caballero owners only do a couple of thousand miles a year. It's basically a hipster Motocross bike so the engine would need servicing regularly. The bikes come with a 2 year warranty and I have not seen any evidence of this from the owners group.

The Fantic Caballero 500 engine is made in China where BMW also have some engines built, however, the Fantic is a gorgeous bike but big singles are just SO limited. The Ducati Scrambler ticks more scenarios, city, urban, motorways(highways), countryside and dirt. My opinion don’t shoot me down

I purchased A new ducati multistrada enduro to tour North America for 2 years . It needed an engine rebuild after 13 months. I also met several people who had the same problem. The bikes aren’t reliable and their customer service blamed the engine issues on my dirty chain ( I rode 960 miles in 20 hours to a dealer) I had to get the ceo and the news involved to have them Honer their warranty. Only bike I ever regretted buying. Engine rebuild took 3 months. I live on the east coast bike rebuild was in in Seattle bike lasted 2 weeks then was back down to the shop for over a month in San Diego had it back 2 days and back to shop for a month got it back broke 3rd day I had it back which was my 1st day crossing the USA in 48 hours. Quality and Ducati aren’t friends don’t believe review videos that are 10 min long. Any bike is amazing for a test ride. I was only able to ride my ducati 20 days in the second year of ownership and not one of their dealers would buy the bike. Sold at a giant loss to a used bike dealer after a year of trying to sell it . Total garbage . Avoid Ducati at all cost .
