Hey Cali quick question, after the oil change do you know how to set the service date for the next interval?
@gabrieljohannson67774 жыл бұрын
Gotta say, I 100% agree with your regular oil servicing. Not being a Ducati V4 owner, that has to be one of the smallest oil filters I’ve seen on motorbikes.

Squeeze the Boss with your fingers on the “O”rings around the “O”ring lands toward one direction creating a relief to pull that “O”ring without using a pick. This will prevent a scratch on the “O”ring groves.

nice video!! just for these V4 engines u gotta let it drain for 2 hrs due to 4 oil pumps. so if u wanna check ur oil level make sure ur bike is been sitting for 2 hrs for correct reading...

Hello friend. Please, after changing the oil, does the OIL SERVICE message disappear automatically or not? Is it necessary to take the motorcycle to a dealership to delete the message? Thank you very much. A big hug. Marcelo

I have done 2 oil changes now. Have you found the bike only needs 3 litres as opposed to the 3.4 the book states?
@Ymril Жыл бұрын
I am curious to know as well. I read several times that the 3.4 litres is too much and that it causes too much pressure leading to a water pump failure. Any thoughts on that ?

Can you please make a video on scanner you are using to reset the service light?

If you drain the oil cold after the bike has sat for a few days wouldn't all the oil be in sump and just drain most out that way and not have to drain for 2 hrs? You could measure the amount to accurately put the same amount back in if the level was good before hand. Plus all sediment would be at the bottom of the sump too. Warming the bike up is just re circulating the old oil through the engine then the drain time goes up to 2hrs or more. Sorta makes no sense to warn it up.
@CaliMotoTV10 ай бұрын
The manual tells you to warm it up, then let it sit.
@marcusbarnes592910 ай бұрын
So basically letting it cool back down and alowing it to drain all back to sump before draining... I think its allowing for people riding to the stealerships... If at home and cold just drain it to get it all out. Some people even let it drain over night...
@CaliMotoTV10 ай бұрын
No, warming up the oil makes it less viscous and flow better. Recirculation helps remove the particles on the passages and suspend them in the oil so they get drained with the oil. Just draining it cold only removes any debris that happened to be in the oil after it sat the rest stays in the passages.

Nice instructional video; however, one constructive comment. Although I am also a firm believer in regular oil changes, the first oil change should be around 600 miles as recommended. Most Ducati Tech's will tell you not to change the first oil until around 600 miles in order for the engine to break-in properly. Following the first oil change at around 600 miles I change the oil and filter every 3K miles. I've been doing this process on all my Duc's since 1995 and never had any engine issues.
@vits714 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there remains about 1/2 liter of old oil in the oil cooler due to its design. See where the in and out hoses are attached. And you will see shortly after engine start in the level check window that new oil gets contaminated :(

According to Ducati the procedure is to fill the bike with about 3-3.2 liters of oil. Run the bike for a few minutes then let it sit for 1.5-2 hours. After waiting, you can slowly top it off. I just did mine this way tonight.
