This engine is bananas in the new Panigale, but I still feel they should have put the old 1299 V-twin into this new Streetfighter and tuned it for maximum low to midrange torque, and not be so worried about the HP. This Streetfighter will be best on track rather than street, but that’s not what people buy nakeds for.
@Claimjumper554 жыл бұрын
This is cool. I own a '19 Tuono but I think both bikes are amazing. It is interesting though that the Tuono produces more HP and torque up to 9500 rpm. My Tuono is going the speed limit (70mph) at 8500 rpm in first gear. It looks to me like the Streetfighter engine starts to pull away from the Tuono only once you're well into 'go to jail' speeds. It's a great time to be into fast bikes.

First gear at 70mph with that power. Porn!!!,
@lixno4 жыл бұрын
Truth is that the power difference from 5.000rpm to 9500rpm is very small (only a couple of hp) and it won't be noticeable while ridding. Realistically both bikes should feel almost the same up to 10000rpm but after that the difference between them is chaotic...

I can do an almost direct comparison. I have a 2019 Tuono Factory and my brother has a 2018 Panigale V4S, The Panigale doesn't pull away from the Tuono in any meaningful way until over 150 and then goes on to past the speedo stopping at 185, the Tuono tops out at 170. On the street the Tuono is way better, it feels much lighter and makes the Panigale seem like it doesn't want to turn in. The Tuono can be flicked about like a 500. The electronics are way better on the Ducati apart from the QS/Blipper which is sluggish and surgy on the Ducati. Aprilia fitted all the same electronics but didn't tune them to the bike so the anti wheelie just cuts the power dead on the Tuono but will hover the front wheel on the Ducati. Same thing with the TC. ABS on the Tuono will disengage the brakes completely when set to 3 and someone decides not to go at a roundabout. To make the Tuono safe TC on 1, Anti Wheelie turned off, ABS set to 1. why has it got 8 level TC and a bar switch? The fact that the Panigale has loads of top end isn't a hindrance on the road because it has enough mid range as well.

@Guizas4 жыл бұрын
I quite actually enjoy a bit of top end, I just sold my 1299 because i have wrist issues from working in IT and I like riding 200-300 mile days, i'm looking at buying one of the three (Tuono, SDR, SF V4), and I actually like to have the top end and not just get raped by a 600cc bike going past me screaming at 14.500 RPM ( i know im exaggerating a bit), dunno its nice to have it.
@tuyenhoang55464 жыл бұрын
Gualter Guizado i don’t think any of those 3 will get raped by 600 on track. Top speed of all 3 are above 160 mph. I rode on the straight vs r6 before with the tuono and smoke it.
@kuhndj674 жыл бұрын
@@Guizas I agree... the problem on the street is that the SF does close to 90 in first gear... that means to be in the meaty part of the powerband I'm going to be in "extra-legal speed" territory anywhere in my state... IN FIRST GEAR. On the one hand... that's pretty impressive, but on the other hand... tickets will be very hard to avoid. I was thinking some aggressive re-gearing would need to happen to make the bike a bit more fun (it hates to wheelie with it's crazy tall gearing) AND a bit more street centric (I'm not a track guy). Alternatively... I'm still shopping around to see if I can find a nicely farkled low mile 1098SFS, which IMO is prettier than the V4 and may be faster on the street at normal speeds (meatier torque band).
@gregfield29064 жыл бұрын
There is another Dyno with a guy doing the street fighter and the superduke together. The superduke only puts out 10 less rear-wheel Peak horsepower and spanks it like crazy on the torque. Also at 8000 RPM it puts out 45 more horsepower. I think as usual the Ducati overstated the horsepower. Another video weighed the sf and with full gas it was 457 lb only 6 pounds lighter than the superduke and in Canada a fully loaded superduke is $6,000 less money.

Yes, another proof the old 1098S Streetfighter still is the king. @44teeth would love to see you ride the old one and hear your opinion. Old skool analog brutalism instead of smoothness, but so much more fun to ride.
I don't know, i think I prefer this to be honest, people say the SDR is the best for the street yes that's right because of the immense torque at 8k, but to be honest this has more than enough torque for the street, and then it gives you the top end of a race bike, and please don't tell me people don't use this I use it plenty of time, i mean you see plenty of race bikes on the street, unless you ride 100% inside the City then i agree, here in the UK you have amazing B roads and twisties to explore the torque, and then you find plenty of dual lane A roads where you can explore the RPMs.

I’ve seen on other dyno pulls with direct comparison to one another that the Super Duke had way more power and Tourqe to 10,000 rpm and is only down about 10 hp but on contrast is way up about almost 30ft.lbs. It seems like the ideal naked would be a Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory with a Tuono bar, and a better exhaust note than both. It’s time for Aprilia to upgrade theTuono. It’s down almost 30hp to the RSV4 with little difference in Tourqe.

It's a toss-up. My Diavel has GOBS of power down low and nowhere near the RPM of the V4, but in stock form it was also rough and jerky at low RPM. IMO, better to have massive power in the mid to top end and keep low end soft for around town puttering or lazy canyon/twisty riding than have a heavy flywheel that makes the revs sluggish. Putting a lightweight flywheel on my 1098 transformed its power delivery, but the damned electronically-assisted starter was a weak link and broke the starter sprag. power through an entire rev range is always desired, it’s irrelevant the RPM value. For example, imagine removing the RPM values on a tach - would that change how you ride? Dang 4euro RSV4 on JSH dyno Made 180. That's impressive for a Naked bike.

Tuono is still the king. More fun from 6 - 9k rpm plus half the price. BTW it's 10 years old. Ducati did not move the game on.

James you should have the 44 team follow you around vlogging for a day or better yet get your own youtube channel 🤣👌.

Was never quite sure what you were going to do with all that power on a naked with out being physically torn off the bike by the wind. Disappointed in the torque figure. However that's all the stats. Be much more interested in what it's like to live with ie it's actually really rideable and not just a tarts handbag.
