This is the mask that is good for the people with hearing aids also. The elastic around the ears is always in the way and the hearing aids falls off when you remove the mask. This is the perfect solution. Will make it for my husband, sister in law and both my mother and father in law. Thank you🥰.

Thank you for this updated video. I've made masks with ties. I discovered that they interfered with my glasses. And a lot of people in my age group wear them. Your under the ears are the best solution so far. I've printed patterns on card stock and cut the pattern out. Since it is a bit firmer than regular paper, I've used this method to trace onto the fabric, using washable markers. My mother was a seamstress at a sweatshop and she would sew collars like you did, she'd put together a bunch. But I didn't know it was called " chain stitching". Thanks for bringing back fond memories. Stay well and safe.

Nicely done! I made a similar design face mask, but over the ear style. I used spray adhesive to stick pattern to plexiglass, then cut out on a scroll saw. Sanded edges to the pattern line. That gave me a see-through pattern to use with a rotary cutter.

Thank you for the detailed video tutorial and pattern. I agree with other posters who said you should NOT have to donate the pattern. COME ON, People... It's $1. All these people carrying on over $1 makes me feel sad for the human race, especially during a time like this.

Now ppl selling masks $30 is a RIP OFF, but I would pay $5-$10 for one because its an actual mask that someone took the time to make... I just did it and most of it went well. The button I had was 3/4 inch. When I first sewed it inside out with my zipper foot, I had a tough time have to sew around the button, it was getting stuck under the foot, I had to push the button out of the way for going up , then over, then down the seam. When I had it right side out and did the top stitching I stopped before the button part and then hand stitched that section.

I wear mine to work (not all day but often for a few hours at a time), I wear it around Wal Mart (about an hour), mine stays up okay. I think if you have to wear it all day, you want to make sure the fit is fairly snug. I made one that was a bit lose and I did have issues with that. But I did with the other style masks too.
@anng21134 жыл бұрын
HeartfeltHandcrafted yes it does slide down plus there are gaps around the cheek area even with a nose wire. In my recent experience making masks, this one is the least effective I’ve tried. I am a very experienced seamstress.
@marthadyke2434 жыл бұрын
Mine isn’t snug around my nose, either. Any suggestions? It fit good otherwise and I ❤️ that my hearing aids aren’t getting caught up with the elastic. Any tips for getting a better fit around the nose?
@UtahTabby4 жыл бұрын
@@marthadyke243 I would try a tiny dart maybe an inch or inch and a half from center seam along the top edge, just to bring in the fabric closer to the cheekbone. I seem to have no cheekbones so I have a lot of gapping in all masks. Sew your center seam and your lower darts and then try the single layer of mask on (have someone hold it up to your face) and pinch where you need a dart. If you can get it fitted well, make the lining the same way. ( I sew wedding dresses and this is basically making a bodice breast cup.)

Thank you for your time making this tutorial. I will cut fabric and make it today. I did have a question- if i wanted to make an extension at the end to add Velcro I would just extend the ends 3-4 more inches. I believe that’s what you said. Would the Velcro be sewn on top/under the extensions after or on the opposing sides before turning with added fabric for support. Again, Thank you.
@thesewciopathcrafter4 жыл бұрын
If I were to use the extension method with velcro, I would do it after topstitching the whole mask. That way you have two layers to hold the velcro and it would be more stable. I hope that wasn't confusing... Good luck!
@dorothymasterson574 жыл бұрын
HeartfeltHandcrafted I actually made several yesterday. I made one that I thought would be for my husband (your initial pattern) but it was too small. Hi, I just saw this video and thought it was creative. Does your face feel warm or stuffy inside the mask? Did you have any difficulties with breathing while wearing the mask? Do you feel claustrophobic when wearing one? Have you ever felt a need to remove a face mask for fresh air or feeling trapped moisture within the mask? If you wear glasses, does the warm air from the inside of the mask fog them up?

I tried the pattern it is not practical you have to wear it so tight to be any good to stay up and I don’t want my mask tight. I even tried to alter it to make it where it will stay on better but no

I wonder if it's the type of nose if the person has perky nose bone, the mask stay put.

Kim Read make the nose piece which helps it stay in place. This pattern is much cooler than most and easy to make for making large amount.

Maybe add 1/4" to the front of the mask if it is too tight for you. I like mine really snug. You may also try the nose wire, it might make it stay put better. Hope you find a good solution for your mask.

You need to try another style, another shape. the motorcycle style would do it. Make the mask that goes around up to your nap or above your ponytail, depends how long you make ties(4" wide and lenght to your taste). I make all styles message me in private if you wish.

We are all in this together ~ why not just make the pattern available on here for us? Paying just seems like such a money grab during this epidemic!

I appreciate your opinions. I can't add a PDF here. I have donated several hundred masks. I work full time at a police station during the day and sew on the evenings and weekends. Etsy happens to be the most universal spot for people to be able to have access. That's why I only made it $1. Not to make money...to have it easily accessible to everyone. They charge me for every download but are available in every country. For those that can't afford the $1, you can easily pause the video and recreate the pattern yourself. The measurements are shown on the screen. Stay safe.

Other people put the link to their pattern below their video! You stay safe too!

I agree, it can be placed on Google docs for free... As much as I want to make these I refuse to pay for a pattern even if a $1 cause your still making a profit of .47¢ per download. I'll keep doing the normal ones to donate I'm not working and paying out of pocket for fabric materials to then hv to pay for patterns too, smh!

@@thesewciopathcrafter You do not have to defend yourself...there are many who are selling the masks and patterns, people do not realize how much time it takes to make a pattern

I love the design, but the finished product didn't fit well. It wouldn't stay up on my face. I too tried to adjust it but ended up trashing it.

How do I get the pattern
@thesewciopathcrafter4 жыл бұрын
thank you. I have it on my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/TimelessJournalsbyKJ?ref=seller-platform-mcnav There is an updated tutorial on my channel. It goes a little more in-depth on how to construct the mask, how to resize it, variations on the materials, elastic sizes and placements, and optional closures. There is also a completely non-elastic version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqi9mJ6EmbCfptU
