2020 Ford Transit AWD | EcoBoosted Big Boy! | Review

You can tell 2020 is a weird year by how much van content we're doing... and let's keep it all rolling with the 2020 Ford Transit AWD EcoBoost!
This is a big boy. This specific van is the Transit 350. And under its short snout of a hood, it packs some heat. The engine here is a 310 hp/410 lb-ft-producing 3.5-liter turbo V6. It's backed up by a ten-speed automatic, and it sends go-juice out to all four wheels as needed.
On the inside, our tester is the super sweet Transit Crew. That means it has two rows of seats and then plenty of room for activities.
This van has us dreaming big. We need to find a way to pump one of these up and go with a full van life build. It won't be cheap but it would definitely be awesome.

I ordered mine and when it came in I was blown away how quick it is. I ordered the mid roof short W/B Ecoboost AWD and hit every option including leather, forged Aluminum wheels, Ambulance package, tow package, dual cameras, navigation, dual A/C and heat. and the lit $75.00 passenger visor to keep my wife happy. Its all black. and with the polished forged wheels it looks great. I did not get the chrome grill like the one you are testing mine is all black plastic. The best option is the adaptive cruise control makes short work of long highway drives. I'm 6'3" and only need to bend over slightly with the mid roof. My buildout is a shower, and bed very simple we cook outside. we added a power RV side awning. The ambulance package came with 2 alternators and 2 batteries and a separate fuse box works great. We got the 9500 lb package and built in brake controller so it can tow 6600 lbs. We have taken it all over Death Valley dirt roads without problems this fall we are doing the 3" lift, 2" taller tires and skid plates. Ours windowed at $56,400 but the dealer sold it for $51,000. Because of COVID it took 17 weeks for Ford to make it. But it was worth the wait.

I drive the awd non ecoboost .its pretty great at steep driveways dirt roads with big bumps and pot holes.only problem is sometimes the front wheel clicks when I lose traction not sure if its trying to engage full awd or if it needs service.im at 30k miles .only time i couldnt get up a steep driveway was because I somehow put the passenger front and rear left wheel in the air because of the angle I took.

Can you confirm availability of the 2.0 EcoBlue diesel in the Transit? I feel Ford initially claimed it would replace the 3.2 I-5, but I have yet to see it pop up or buildable on their website.

EcoBlue is gone. If you try to build a Transit on Ford's website, you only get the 3.5 naturally aspirated or the 3.5 EcoBoost. I guess now you only have remaining units at dealerships to choose from.

It's niche but it shouldn't be, van's are more useful and versatile than trucks in nearly every way. Also theres a huge debate among nomads about truck vs van for off roading vs comfort so you would sell more raptor transits than you think, (though I think it should be named the mammoth with big snorkels)

Good luck. Mine has been at dealership 5 times. Only have 12,000 miles on it and it shakes while not moving. Ford just said its normal. Dealership says something is really wrong with it. Started at about 11,000 miles. It sucks.

base V6 is more then "adequate". That being said "adequate" is really not a word of note in most peoples vehicle vocabulary. As you did mention in your video is that any red marrowed person buying one of these is probably flush with cash, a rich hipster van life wannabe . These folks and will not balk at the extra cost for an ecoboost. But its really overkill. I know people with the v6 ecoboosts, trucks and Utes , they pay the extra 30% for premium fuel, never pull loads , never strain the engine, and get 5% more MPG. However with a mercedes on the possible BUY list, you can afford the boost and be under the mercedes. Guaranteed someone will chip this beeeyach . Sanity is not on the option list.
