2020 FXLRS 14" Bars -Tall Risers Dangerous- Picking The Right Risers - Risers Too Tall For 5ft Rider

Wanted to share my thoughts on tall risers. My setup sits at 14" tall, 10" kraus risers with 4" tall bars. I had some concerns myself, reason why I decided to get kickback risers. I believe the kickback helps with reach, reason why Kraus offers a T-Rex bracket. Honestly I've seen shorter riders with straight risers and no issues with reach. I honestly believe at 5 feet tall, you should be able to reach tall bars with some kickback. Watch Laidlaw's video with Marcos(5'4") and his FXLRS. Go to your local dealer and sit on a few bikes!

Right on! You can always tilt the bar towards you, you can check out a FXLRST and you’ll notice the difference between the angle of the bars.

I have a 13 inch total rise. It feels a million times better then stock. I'd get shoulder and back pain on long rides with stock bars for my FXFBS because it would hunch me over too much because of how low they sit. I wish I had made this change much sooner instead of waiting so long!

FXFBS has drag bars, I can see some back pain dealing with that setup haha. I too wish I'd changed risers sooner, I was just worried about reach. Glad I went with 10 inch risers!

I have the fatty 18 apes on my dyna and I love them. Been looking for a set if 16 up 2 back risers so I can put the dyna bro bars on it. Time for a fairing and bars a to wide. If anyone knows where I can find the risers let me know. Rubber down middle fingers up

I'm the same height. I got the factory 47 12 inch rise with a pull back. I love it. It feels so great I wished I had done it much sooner.

Same here, I postponed the installation because of the uncertainty. Glad I went with the 10" risers over the 8" ones. You can't beat the feeling of tall bars.

Very nice!! I love the gangsta feel with tall bars. I had narrow bars on a previous bike, I'd say narrow bars took more getting use to than tall bars,

I added 12” Krause kick back and going higher is a way better ride . I almost went 14” but no one had cable or throttle extenders

Most kits only go up to 14" overall bar height, but you could special order the clutch and brake lines. And extend the controls with soldering.

I was looking at LA choppers Frisco styled club T-bars and they came either 10 or 13. 13 goes a little above my shoulder but if taller is better then there's no harm in them I suppose I can go 13" only downside is I can't get any kickback but let's hope I won't need it

My bars sit at 14", so with the new risers you're looking at 16" bars. You just can't beat the gangsta feel of tall bars.

No digs at all, if the man is comfortable and can control the bike, more power to him. That clip of Marcos looks extremely awkward and uncomfortable. Pull back seems like it'd fix it but he looks way too out stretched. I ride with like 18in apes and forwards at 5'7" and I still tilt them back a little. Idk man, maybe it's just me and he might be doin fine like you said but that looks like terrible geometry.

What speedo and tach gauge relocation bracket did you use with this setup?

I used Speed Kings kit, but you could get the summit V-twin gauge bracket with gorilla cables kit. It's a difference of $30 bucks if you buy everything separate, or just pay the $30 extra to have Speed-Kings do it for you.

The stock bars feel great 👍. Risers would be easier to change. You wouldn't have to depin the wires, and you wouldn't risk damaging the TBW. Sometimes the bars are a little wide for lane splitting, only real con I've noticed. You have less control with narrow bars, and I've owned bikes with real narrow bars.

Nope, I’m 5’7” with 17” bars in my sportster, but my seat height on the sporty is over 30”. You might have issues when it comes to long touring, but shouldn’t be a problem with 2-3 hour rides.
