I can`t find anywhere the weight of the Fathom 2 29er (2020). Can you help me?
@sickmak904 жыл бұрын
I had a 2020 Giant Fathom 2 27.5 and it was ok. I actually really liked it but some of the components are meh, which is to be expected at that price. The crest 34 fork wasn’t bad at all. The SX Eagle I got SUCKED and my tektro brakes were also garbage. If everything functioned perfectly it would have been a great bike. I still wish they would ditch the 141 boost QR.

Talalipop MTB awesome, it’s a really interesting bike especially when you consider the really short chain stay and the huge tires. They discontinued the stache 5 after 2019. And there’s also a full suspension version of it maybe you mention.

You're welcome!! And unfortunately I can't help much there besides telling you to call bike shops often, since a lot of them get shipments of bikes every week or so and may have the one you are looking for. Maybe you can ask how often they get bikes and try to call when they say.

Hey! What effect do you think it would have to add a 40mm riser handlebar to the fathom 2 29? Thanks for the amazing videos!
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
Typically riser bars just make your sitting position more upright, which definitely helps for descents so you are not leaned as far forward, but it does slow you down a bit if you are trying to go fast since your position will be less efficient for getting as much power down on the pedals. Riser bars do also allow for some better cornering/turning which is nice, but since you are not putting as much power down you may notice slightly worse traction on the front tire. Since the fathom 29 is an xc bike, speed may be important for you, but if not then the riser bars should be perfectly fine in my opinion!
@badagaioo4 жыл бұрын
@@TalalipopMTB aw man! Thank you so much for your super comprehensive response. My intention using the riser handlebar would be to add a little contort for flat terrain but considering that this bike climbs like hell and a great part of my routes include steep climbs I don't want to loose that hability. Once again, thanks! Keep up the amazing work with your videos.
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
@@badagaioo Thank you!! And yeah I see that dilemma; maybe you can also mess with the stem spacers and switch them around to make the handlebars lower on the bike. It'll just feel a little different from your flat bar then I believe.

I’m trying to get a budget entry level bike, either marlin 5 or talon 3. Which would you recommend?
@Gamebit4504 жыл бұрын
It would be hard to say no to a volt green marlin 5 .
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
For the price, the giant talon 3 does have some better components than the marlin 5. I personally went for the marlin 5 but that was mainly because I just loved the look of it and was planning to upgrade parts anyways, but if you don't care about appearance as much the giant should be a better bang for your buck.

Hello do you think it's worth getting the fathom 29 1 instead of the 29 2 ? The 1 is 500$ more here in Canada ..fathom 29 2 is 1450$ fathom 29 1 is 1949$
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
Hmm the fathom 1 mainly just has some lighter and more durable parts, and does have a dropper post included. I personally feel like the fathom 2 would be fine for me, and I would just add a dropper post eventually, but if you want your bike to be lighter and perhaps last a bit longer then the fathom 1 is more worth it. It does also have some better brakes, but not sure how noticeable that would be either.

Hi.... Between Xcaliber 9 and Fathom 1, which one is better ? Which one would be faster ? Especially on bad city roads. And which one would be more comfortable? Will appreciate a quick response. If you could make a video comparing xcaliber 9 and fathom 1 would be really very helpful ...
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
The fathom has wider tires and a SRAM SX/NX drivetrain while the X-Caliber uses a mainly Shimano SLX drivetrain. The drivetrains are mainly personal preference here, but the fathom should also be lighter by a pound or so, though Giant doesn't release official weights. I feel like they would be comparable in speed since the X-Caliber also has the narrower tires, but the Giant may be more comfortable because of the wider tires that absorb more bumps.
@ashishniranjan5554 жыл бұрын
Talalipop MTB Thanks a lot. By "Comfortable" I also meant the geometry and the saddle. Can you please guide accly.... Will be thankful....

I Have a Giant Fathom of 2017 vintage - All the so-called experts and experienced riders praise and bitch about various bikes - The difference between a 1 and 2 model and different years etc. - Chaps it's the components that make the difference. My Fathom frame is no different from a fathom 2 to a fathom 1 - All manufacturers knock out bikes cheaper with cheaper components, wake up chaps! - I love the frame geometry etc. - I upgraded to Shimano XT and a narrow wide tooth chain ring, never a chain drop! now I have an awesome bike! you get what you pay for! - I'm a Brit expat living in the Philippines, my Fathom is perfect for the condition of the roads here in the sticks, BTW I'm 71 and don't ride competitively; it’s my only transport, exercise and fun!

Which would you prefer, a Roscoe 8 or fathom 27.5?
@TalalipopMTB4 жыл бұрын
That's a hard one. There is a bit of a price difference with the roscoe costing almost $300 more though, so it definitely has some nicer parts because of that. For my riding style I feel like I wouldn't need those upgrades, like the SRAM NX instead of the SX, but i'm not too sure. I prefer the look of the roscoe, but the fathom is a good enough bike for me I would think.
