You got nothing to be ashamed of, your equipment is awesome nice to see that stuff still involved in the food chain.

Good help makes life so much better. I was feeling guilty for the three minutes I spent running the camera and left my brother-in-law to fend for himself in the hayloft, lol!

Thank you so much for sharing the bean harvest. I really enjoy watching the older machines working in the field 👍👍👍👍 The only thing better than this bean harvest video would be corn picking video (hint, hint) 😁😁. Thanks again ✌️

Good to see this video. Your combine seems to be running really well. I have JD 4400. Those old JD combines really do a nice job of cleaning the grain. Keep the videos coming.

Don't feel ashamed of the equipment you run. I think it's some pretty cool stuff! I'd rather watch channels like yours then the guys that run the big stuff. Can't wait to see your new combine in action.

Thanks Stephen! I hope it didn't come across as genuine shame. I'm pretty happy with our lineup, and everything we own suits our operation's size and purpose fairly well. Sometimes I get a little self deprecating though in an attempt to be amusing, but it doesn't always work!

Awesome video sir I just stumbled across one of your videos and subscribed immediately. I have a small farm here in Lynchburg Ohio and I still use all of the older equipment to do everything on my place. I’m really enjoying seeing this stuff still being used and still doing what it done all those years ago
@ravenviewfarm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Craig! I think there are quite a few of us out there making things work on a small to medium scale with older stuff. We just don't make it into the public eye very often. There's still a place for small farms, and we've found that keeping our old equipment running is well worth it if it means we don't have to be making payments and carrying loans. A guy's gotta be able to sleep at night!

Great vids of a good machine. We ran a 1958 55 JD. for several years in the early 70's in wheat harvest and it gave us very few problems. Nothing major anyway. I don't know what year your is, but it is for sure a later one than ours and the first 55 I have seen with a straw chopper instead of the spreader.

Ours was a 1968 model with some nice features. Kind of amazing how many years they produced the same machines back then - with continuous upgrades of course. I liked that ours had variable speed control on the cylinder, and the FRONT concave spacing could be adjusted easily from the cab. Rear spacing still had to be done with a wrench on the outside, but since we only did soybeans with it I could kind of set it and forget it. Our 4400 now has some nice improvements over the prior generation of combines, but they also add a lot of complexity to the machine. I really appreciate how simple the 55 was, and how few belts and chains and bearings it had vs the newer machine.

Is that the Missus unloading the hay wagon? If she had a boat and motor she would be the perfect woman for Wisconsin.

LOL! That’s actually my sister. She has horses, so she and my brother in law help out whenever we do hay, in return for winter forage.

I have a 55 with the 303 gas as well and some one removed the cable that goes to my tach. could you please let me know where the cable attaches to the engine.
@ravenviewfarm Жыл бұрын
Hey Barn Heart Farm. I meant to get back to you on this, and was so busy over the last couple of months that I couldn't follow up. If you email me at RavenviewFarm@gmail.com, I've got a couple of pictures of the engine tachometer cable routing, and I could send them over to you. I could probably even make a little video clip to show the routing path. I believe it passes from the console in the cab, back through a square tunnel in the grain tank, and passes next to the right side of the engine, then wraps around the back of the engine and finally inserts above the flywheel housing. It's rather roundabout!
