i find it endlessly more entertaining watching farmers like yourself as opposed to other farming channels which do it on an industrial scale with all the latest gear.

Thank you for sharing your days with us! The 4400 looks and sounds great! Nice clean sample in the tank also!

I have a 4400 too. When I watched your video, it made me realize how much I miss harvest after it's over. It's something I love to do while I'm doing it, but always want to get through it due to weather concerns. Then once it's over, you wish you were still doing it. Just a special time of the year.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s definitely my favorite time of year as well! When a whole spring and summer of hard work and uncertainty finally bear fruit. I guess a little stress is just part of the process, but aside from that, there’s nothing better than bringing in the harvest.

8 acres is what I started with for a few years I tried to get every small field I could keep uploading all the regenerative stuff there’s is a lot of stories but I struggle to find many boots on the ground

Will do! Between the no-till and cover crop practices we’ve been using (2023 will be our fifth year with those systems), the more diverse rotation, and now making and applying compost extract, I should have a lot to report this summer. Especially if we get some decent rain. Two years of drought has made it hard to gauge our progress. I’ll have a series of videos in the next couple of months just focusing on making compost, making extract, and applying it. Too early to judge its effect just yet, but I’ll be following up as time goes on. I agree that we need more first-hand stories from folks who are implementing regenerative practices in a pragmatic and realistic way.

As always, a bunch of great shots, both your stationary camera and the drone. The long gap between recording and posting this video makes me really miss Autumn, being that we just got yet another snowfall and are expecting a foot more this week. Will all this moisture stay in the ground to make a better harvest this year?
@ravenviewfarm

Thank you sir! As always, I appreciate you tuning in! I’m hoping some of this moisture will make its way into the ground. The frost is pretty shallow this year with all the snow cover, and the water content of the snow is high. So I’m hoping some will percolate down. More than anything though, I hope we get some actual rain this summer. No amount of snow can substitute for a few reasonable rainfall events (but not TOO much! Farmers. Never satisfied!)

@@ravenviewfarm Interesting. I wasn't sure how long ground moisture generally stays around, but I suppose every hunk of land is different and the weather long after the snow is gone can make all the difference. Our previous place in Plymouth was swamp land long ago, so we'd almost always find water 6" down or so.

Do the long dividers on the head knock down very many plants?
@ravenviewfarm
@ravenviewfarm Жыл бұрын
Y’know, they’re really not too bad. The right side doesn’t knock anything significant down at all. The left side has a slightly larger footprint with the wobble box mounted there, and that will knock some plants down. I tend to harvest in a clockwise fashion so the left side stays out in the open as much as possible.

What video editing software do you use? I love the transitions and the music overlay

You’re going to laugh… I use Windows Movie Maker, on an old desktop running Windows 7. I tried upgrading to a better software, but my old PC just couldn’t keep up. Movie Maker is pretty capable though if a person is just doing basic editing.
