Really enjoyed seeing a fresh approach to using the planner’s daily section - freeform is all for me, too, as I seem to always have a dozen different things running through my mind and need to purge them onto paper somewhere for thought organization. I am a longtime rings user because, like you, I don’t go back and read where I was and have preferred to just pitch it and keep a clean start weekly but now my teenagers are starting their senior year and I want to document more of life with them before they leave the nest 😭 and watching your flip has inspired me to use the daily section in a multifaceted way where I am not tied to a specific routine but rather what works for the moment 💛 thank you for walking us through and explaining your approach, so helpful and inspiring! 💛✨

I’m new to hobonichi but I really want to try it for 2022. I’ve been using a ring planner this year which I love because everything is in one place (goals, finances, and all the things). The problem is I can only get about a full month of dailies in the rings. I really miss having the whole year in one place. While I love that I can have weeklies and dailies in the hobonichi, You’ve really helped me envision how to use the weekly better, the daily as my journaling and extra mini list spaces. I’ll probably have to tip in some blank finance sections for each month so it will be a chunky planner but I may just get it all in one place!! Thanks so much, very inspiring!

You have and still is the reason I’m on my first Hobonichi Cousin! 🥰 I wish this was a 45 mins video. No complains when it comes to learning all the tips and guides from ya! I’m still struggling a little with how I’m using my vertical weekly pages. I have events or appointments that are time specific. But I quickly find myself unable to stick to the time line because my writing is just too big. It does annoy me that I can’t get the hybrid of planning & memory keeping to work well on the vertical spread. And my indexing is looking boring for now.. it’s just all Dailies 😅 I feel like I still haven’t found a creative way to make it look “used”. I’ll try to use your trick of daily summary - though my daily pages are really just stream of conscious for the most part

Haha I'm having the opposite problem! I got my 2021 Cousin back in September and I'm loving it, but I recently got an idea for how I could use a Mega Weeks and now I can't find one ANYWHERE 😂. Looks like I'll have to wait til next year the add a Weeks to my planner stack. I feel lucky I heard about Hobonichi in time to get the Cousin though!

I can relate in stickers not reflective of what’s written in the daily pages of the Cousin. I just decorated nearly the whole page with dance stickers even though the subject matter isn’t even dancing 😅. But it looks aesthetically pleasing and since it’s my journal page, who cares except me 😆. Same with not using yw Avec because I love having the whole year in one book, bough it’ll definitely be a chunky one because I keep adding embellishments. Need to use as much of my crafting supplies as the Cousin and Techo are the planners that I decorate in. There is a chance that my reading log/journal will be decorated but we’ll see how that goes. I also have the A6 5-yr planner but that’s all writing. TFS!

I’m a lefty who smears absolutely everything! I’ve been using a Jetstream 0.38 refill in a Sarasa Grand body on my daily pages and a Jetstream Edge 0.28 on my weekly pages. I think I’ve only had one or two very minor smears in my Hobonichi all month, and I fill those daily pages every day with rapid journaling. I’m not careful with these pens at all - no paper under my hand, waiting for ink to dry or anything. Even though I love the look and feel of other pens, the Jetstreams have been a wonderful find for me for worry-free writing. 💛

I'm continuing to LOVE using my own Cousin and my lettering is improving with getting so much practice. I've been considering purchasing one but the thin pages has me concerned. They look pretty delicate and easy to accidently rip and/or ink bleed through. Anyway, thank you for being brave to share your perfectly imperfect 2020 Hobonichi.

I just have to chime in and say there's no reason to worry with the paper! It looks thin but boy is it strong (you can pull washi off and it won't tear) and NOTHING I've tried has bled through! You can even PAINT on it! It's totally amazing! I had wondered about the paper but I'm sooooo glad I got a Cousin this year because the paper is actually my favorite part of the planner! Tombow markers look beautiful on it (the colours way nicer than on regular paper!) and you can blend them over and over and the paper won't pill. The ink sorta sits on top & then dries so it also makes fountain pen ink show off its sheen beautifully too! Truly amazing I'm already looking for notebooks and notepads with the Tomoe River paper I love it that much! TL DR: Don't let the paper being thin stop you, it's amazingly strong and bleed resistant paper that's very fun to use!

I love your videos! Can you tell me - do you preplan in both your Hobonichi Weeks and the Cousin? And if you do does it feel like you're doubling up? Or are there differences?
@lindseyscribbles3 жыл бұрын
They’re pretty much duplicates but the layouts help me approach everything a bit differently. The weeks is filled in “live” so as things come in so it’s a great landing page for everything that week. The timed vertical on the cousin gives me a chance to come up with a game plan on when I want to tackle things and see my timed schedule along side it.

Hi! Your planner is really cute and I love the HObonichi cousin - PLEASE don’t steal people’s art! If you’ve found some fanart, pictures, or art that you love, PLEASE BUY it from the artist! That person put a lot of work and hours into creating art and there’s a real problem in and outside of the industry of people stealing art for whatever reason. Thanks!

This is such a great point! And something I’ve almost completely changed in my 2021 planner. Almost all my art is actually from Patreon subscriptions or drawn myself. But earlier in 2019/2020 it wasn’t something I had put enough effort into.
