Japanese make the best petrol engines. I have a vento but I have driven my friends city and feel it's engine seems more refined, gear shifting is butter smooth, steering is more responsive compared to my vento. No wonder City leads the chart in India. But I still like my vento

Just drove the Vento TSI and the Honda city CVT a couple of days ago. Loved the driving experience of the Vento. Not that the V tec is bad. However, I would not give 5 stars to seat and driving comfort for the Vento, unlike the Honda which easily gets a 5-star comfort. Even better than the Verna. The overall best package is Honda. Pay a little more and get more space, comfort, features and styling. Vento , Rapid is an enthusiast car.

@@AshikJonathan I think, you should include, NVH for a petrol sedan, as one important criteria of selection. Is Vento passing over 'one cylinder less' cost to consumer, for unnecessary NVH absorbed by him? Or drive a three cylinder, like a diesel? What about extra 'bite' the driver has to implement his skills, for , when negotiating a speed breaker/ hump while coming out of a steep parking gradient in any city building, in a Vento? A 1.5 N.A. has that torque to tide over, whereas, a Vento becomes a mere ' paper tiger'!!! Am I right?

Honda city had done improvement to older engine, so it's still a old unit but vw group has got entire new engine. So you have to agree both r old in their own way One has exterior/interior update Other has under bonnet

Today i was talking to mechanic about my Polo Petrol 2011 model, I have driven it around 1.5L Km without any problems, I was proudly talking and talking and suddenly a diesel vento came to the shop. 2012 model golden color, Trust me the Color shine was still shiny even after almost 9 years. Car was driven around 2.5L km , and owner was proudly talking about TDI motor. Now question is where are those people who just crib about VW/SKODA reliability?? Not all cars are perfect but VW also built some fantastic cars and vento is one of it.

Aryan Singh They are the No.1 magazine in the country doing extensive road testing since 1999 with such pin point accuracy so I don’t think questioning their testing methods wouldn’t be right. Also overdrive on their tests got 9.9 seconds 0-100km/h for the city.

@@dhanvin2795 lol autocar and Overdrive are a piece of joke man. For EG: Autocar tested Skoda Karoq 0-100 for 10.03 seconds while skoda itself claim 9 seconds on vbox. On speedo, Karoq does 8.8 seconds flat (many videos in India And foreign as well for 1.5 TSI DSG Karoq) So don't go on autocar numbers. Also, They tested creta and seltos gt DCT 0-100 at 9.3 seconds (which it never does, I own one and I know it). So they are biased in favour of japanese/korean brands. Also, take another EG, they tested amaze diesel 0-100 at 11 seconds and Ameo 1.5TDI DSG at 11.5 LOL (WHILE Ameo is under 10 seconds hands down, see any video, amaze is no comparison). So yeah, Autocar and overdrive sucks bigtime.

City launched later than the vento. It depends on which driver has got the better reflex. 0 to 100 kmph time is more authentic when measured by a v-box rather than quarter mile drag race. That's what Autocar and Overdrive did.

Even honda replaced the 1.5 ivtec engine with 1.0 ivtec turbo internationally . only in inida still they are selling the old 1.5 ivtec . which will also be gone once. bs6 stage 2 norms come in 2023 . in future Honda will have the 1.0 ivtec turbo . Thailand got the engine with Honda city

Technology have grown 1.0 (3cylinder) beating 1.5( 4 cylinder) Tsi can be fuel efficien as well as aggressive when pushed harder it doestnt mean ivtec is bad its a smooth creamy rev happy engine but we have to accept the future small capacity turbo charged petrol is going to rule due to tighter emmission and excellant diesel like torque.

U want the best Gasoline engine ? i mean Performance & Reliability. Its only & only Honda. No world brands can reach 105 km/hr in just second gear (manual or Auto) ie precisely with a 1.5 cc - Naturally Aspirated - Gasoline - Inline 4 cylinder - same load...........Its real engineering Rather than blowing more & more air into cylinder with a fan..........u can just blow the engine head at redline/ top end. Ear plugs would come in handy !! VW/Germans are good at Diesel engines (trucks & Cars) In Inline Gasolines Honda is a Benchmark !!

Vento wins, because Turbo petrol engines churns out more torque, like the Huracan EVO is Naturally Aspirated and produces 600 NM of torque, but the 992 911 Turbo-s produces a whopping 800 NM of torque🤯, because of bigger Turbos🔥

Nice Drag Race. No naturaly aspirated engine can give kick in the pants feel like the turbo petrol engine. My pick would be vento for sure. City May be modern compared to vento and has more space and comfort and it's cheaper to maintain but vento is far better built than the City and it's also much cheaper to buy which makes it the winner. Next time when you do Drag Race do include rapid 1.0 tsi But it's high time for the vw to get vertus and replace it with vento.

Suryateja GT Are you into weed ? Atleast do some research before typing shit . Redlines till 7k rpm and does nothing? How many times did u redline a vtec motor ? And what no lag in a dsg ??? 😂😂😂😂😂. All tsi motors are turbocharged and there is considerable lag below 1750rpm , which is given a term called turbo lag . Dsg doesnt let you rev past 2k rpm while launching .... Ask any petrol head they will pick a manual i vtec , its a ball of joy to operate that crisp gearbox , rev the nuts out of the petrol motor and scream at the top end ... This is whole lot fun than a stupid auto box where u depend everything on the machine snd have no control .... Everything is not about torque , its about the feel which the car gives .. So dont comment anything random and anything shit . German engineering is marvellous and so is japaneese , they are fucking reliable , efficient and robust .

I have the city and my brother drives vento, and have driven both of them I can say both of them are capable sedans also they both are great if you're looking for a capable sedan. Tho, most of us will be driving it normally and so 0-100 or the drag races does not make sense to me.

I own a Polo 1.0 TSI.. Below 1750 rpm some lag is there (not bad) but after that it literally flies... That power surge is a lot of fun!..,😁 3, cylinder sound is better than most other cars and it actually sounds sporty in higher rpms

I have thrashed this engine on a test drive 😝. You won't really complain in the long term. It is driveable in the city. Personally, I like the turbo lag. Once you stop thinking that four cylinders are superior, you will be happy with 1l tsi and start appreciating its 3 cyl sound.

Well not sure about other 1.0 TSI engines. But this 1.0 DOHC TSI engine from VW does not suffer from major lag and noise issues as other 1.0 turbo engines. Actually this TSI engine was awarded International Engine of the Year Award, 2018 for its performance.

@@sirishch In another car reviews it is saying the City takes only under 10sec to reach 0-100 and in your video, it's saying it took 11.1, that is a huge difference. Yeah, I had driven the new Vento it is powerful and it may pull I am not sure. But I don't think there will be this much gap between in between the City and Vento.

I don't like these kind of comparisons. How you can compare a comfortable naturally aspirated petrol sedan with turbo powered sedan. If really want to compare then compare Vento turbo with Verna turbo that makes sense. I got a chance to test drive City CVT what a comfortable car it is!...really well balanced sedan in its segment...

Petrol heads wanting to drag race and afford 10000 rs challans on daily basis would want to buy Porsche Cayman or mustang gt .. while middle age young professionals like doctors lawyers management executives(90% city buyers) buy city for class feel fit and finish of the vehicle and resale value of of this Japanese sedans speaks for itself .. VW vento was an good vehicle was an benchmark n it will be remembered now it’s out dated with 11 year old design n body ...in this 11 years Honda has brought three generations ... I had civic in 2010 n polo in 2013 now if I want to buy another sedan in 2020 I would want completely new vehicle n I ended up buying city .. which is completely new interms of design space body language unlike vento which has nothing new to offer

@SUVAJIT MUKHERJEE hahaha, new city has 5 star - safety/ ratings internationally and its the same in India. City is a beast man, true beast. Stop saying tin cans tin cans, Germans dont sell much and gives headache for people, lot of people arent rich to afford euro cars due to maintenance and cant keep the car for long term. look at sales, people are getting japanese and korean vehicles ( for features only with better reliable cars) more due to cost and reliability - especially japanese, no german can defeat a reliable japanese car which can cross min 3 lakhs on odometer without much breakdown. Take a suzuki car, you guys keep abusing, which indian or german brand makes a car available for lower midle class/middle class people ? also japanese cars has less maintenance, all around the world - Japanese cars got highest resale value than VW, skoda isnt even known in South and east asian nations. VW has very bad reputation for breaking down. If I am traveling in the middle of night with my family,I want reliability , I dont want it to have issues, i dont want it to stop, what use in having a safe car that doesnt run. City is beast, highly reliable and good built quality and fun to drive too. Even toyota yaris is also reliable and safe. Ciaz - safety I am not sure but highly reliable and low maintenance.

My only concern with this 3 cylinder 1L tsi engine is the drivability after doing 90k or 1 lac kms. How will be the vibrations then and will it feel tired and slow. Because we all know that Honda motor will still be free revving to 7k rpm and doing the same quarter mile time as the new one. That's my only concern that is shifting me to buy the City over Rapid or Vento. Otherwise a really good car this Vento is no doubt.
