My wife and I just test drive both of these cars and we both felt like the Crv was a lot more comfortable. The Rav4 we tested was a XSE blizzard pearl with midnight black trim. Its a very sexy car but it all ends there. The chairs for me weren't as comfortable as the CRV -EX- L. The Rav4 also lacked memory adjusted seats. You would have to upgrade to the Limited for that. You also would have to pay after a year for some of the safety features that come standard with Honda. No remote start on the XSE trim which is included in the CRV Ex-L. Another place that Toyota took shortcuts was not being able to fold the second row from the back of the car. You would have to go around and manually fold it in the XSE trim. The CRV-EX-L actually has lever on the side in the back where you can pull them. The front passengers seat is also manual adjustment vs the CRV you still get electric adjustment seats. We got offers for 39,000 drive out for the Rav4 and 33,200 drive out for the CRV. For the price difference and lack of some features that were important to my wife, we went with the CRV-EX-L. The Rav4 in my opinion was the better looking car but not worth the price difference due to the lack of of features.
@leootp224 жыл бұрын
I really wanted to get the Rav, but the CRV won out for many of the reasons you mentioned. The Rav looks better, but getting nickle and dimed on those features wasn't appealing. The other thing, and I don't see this mentioned enough, is the gas tank issue. Without a solid fix and no ETA on when one might arrive, it was a hard pass for us.
@Thissandthat4 жыл бұрын
The RAV4 hybrids AWD system does still work if the battery 🔋 is low. The rav uses a dual electric motor Planetary gear set, so it can drive the car with one motor, and engine power, and with the other electric motor it can generate power and send that directly to the rear electric motor/and battery if necessary.
@PP-qj1ez4 жыл бұрын
Even if that's true theoretically, I would argue that the AWD feel and total power output to each wheel would be much on the lower side in comparison with CRV hybrid with zero battery.
@andi-ih3jj4 жыл бұрын
Actually there are 3 electric motors in the RAV4 two to drive the the front and rear wheels seperatly and one that can act as generator and drive the vehicle backwards because there is no mechanical rear gear. So you have the internal combustion engine and the two drive motors at the same time. Also Toyota never ever lets the drive battery go empty as soon as it starts to seemingly be depleeted it will be recharged so there is always enough electricity to drive front and rear electric motors. Also the Rav has less power to the rear wheels but this is just by the design of the drive train the electric motor in the back does have less power than the combined engines of the CRV which can send the power completely to the back but this is not better or worse this is just different and it depends on your usage what is better for you. More power on all wheels or better mileage per gallon.
@pttscoco4 жыл бұрын
04:14 not true. The ICU will generate electricity for the rear axis to keep it functional even if battery is empty (which doesn't happen in first place).

Although Sofyan didn't mention it when he was discussing the backseats in both cars, it appeared that the CR-V's rear doors opened much wider than did the RAV4's. This would make entering, exiting or placing child seats in the CR-V much easier.

I realize it can be obnoxious to leave constructive criticism in the KZbin comment section, but as someone who sometimes listens to the reviews while working on other things or listens to the audio of the videos while walking home from work, it would really help if the videos said the model of the vehicle instead of saying "this car" has X , but "this car" has y, since it means I'm constantly having to look over (or opening the video app on my phone) to see what vehicle is being referenced. Nevertheless, these are great reviews, and I appreciate them.

It drives better than the regular RAV4. I would’ve given the CRV hybrid a shot because I’m usually a Honda person, but there’s no spare tire! What?! @vladbarbu4 жыл бұрын
When there is not enough electric current in the battery the front electric motor-generator will work as a generator for the rear electric motor so you get AWD all the time. That's also the way it splits power in the AWD mode, by feeding less power to the front wheels and more to the front electric motor-generator to power the rear electric motor.

So I switched to Toyota's. Have never regretted it. They run forever with no maintenance. No timing belt to replace. No electrical or airco problems. I have had 5 trucks from the no name 1986 through the T100, 2 Tundras and now a Tacoma, and my wife has had 2 Highlanders and now the new 2019 Rav4. My daughter has an older Rav4. Comments mention the spare tire and MPG, but let's not forgot there are various aspects to what makes one a better car for you. Some factors that are often overseen is how much smoother, the engine sound, overall ambience, handling, and significantly sportier the CRV is. The only other car I test drove that came in comparison was the CX-5, which I didn't consider as it cannot reguarly give 35mpg like these two can. If you want every single mpg, tons of features, and want the most practical appliance then Rav4 it is. @@elliex20 I think that's an enabler's mentality and it makes manufacturers think that they can do whatever they want. This is a Toyota, not a Chrysler. Honda does not call it a CVT because it DOES NOT HAVE any transmission. The emotors drive it until a certain speed the the clutch pack can link the 2l engine to the wheels with a direct drive. @andi-ih3jj4 жыл бұрын
it's completely the other way around lithium ion batteries are by far less reliable than a NiMH batteries. There are known Toyota hybrid batteries with more than one million Kilometer and only about twenty percent of the capacity lost on this distance Just think of Boing having some of their planes grounded because they went from old technology batteryto lithium ion batteries and why are you not allowed to carry lithium-ion batteries on airplanes as soon as they go over 100Wh capacity? Because they are dangerous and may explode which will almost never happen with a NiMH battery. The main reasons why lithium-ion batteries are used is because they can be recharged faster, have a higher capacity with the same weight and can be discharged faster. The Maine usage for them is in Plug-in hybrids even Toyota uses them in the plugin prius but they are not always the best choice.
