It is both funny and annoying seeing folks review these who have either never or barely ridden a scooter/motorbike, or who are unfamiliar with their intended purpose. Then we get a huge portion of the review talking about top speed and trying to ride as fast as it can go on a highway. That's not what these bikes are built for at all. I do understand that America is full of highways, but for folks with a home in a city, most all the roads are 25mph and 45mph speed limits. This bike is made for commuting/transportation on those roads... And for maneuvering through tight places.. And for anyone and everyone (including small women and 75 year olds) to be able to move the bike around comfortably, including things like lifting the rear end or rotating it on the kickstand. The highways that this bike is designed to ride on have speed limits around 30-40mph. I don't begrudge you for making a video. It's still helpful, and I enjoy watching 😊 I wish I knew an Asian language well enough to understand their reviews. Those are the folks who will clarify how good this bike is, within the scope of *what* it is.

I bought one of these a couple of days ago for getting to work, popping around town and to save my big bike from the winter weather. Man, it's so much fun, zooms around and pretty quick off the lights. Actually had someone in a sport car try and race me off the lights yesterday....I just chuckled to myself and then carried on through the rush hour traffic.... Stable due to the 17 inch wheels and when it does slip a little on the wet winter roads, it's pretty controlled, it's so light it's easy to handle. The only downside is it's a single seater (although I'm not sure how it would cope with someone on the back) and the mirrors need extenders as anyone who's wider than a super model will struggle to see behind them.

I wish Honda would make a 300 super cub that'd be perfect
@DeanMk13 жыл бұрын
Why? There's a bunch of bikes already in that range that's easily available. A big engine is not the point of the Cub/Super Cub. I don't think they even needed to go to the 125. 110 can keep up with freeway traffic. That's all you need.
@jamesdspaderf28833 жыл бұрын
@@DeanMk1 not really, many 'freeways' limit access to 150+cc bikes. Also what other 'scooter' has the similar tyre and handling specs as the Super Cub? Yes there are other higher capacity scooters but they ain't the supercub, baby
@DeanMk13 жыл бұрын
@@jamesdspaderf2883 No James Spader, there is no such "rule" in the United States. You can drive anything you want, anywhere. It does help, though, if what you're driving on the freeway can go at least 60-65 mph. A 110 Super Cub can meet that criteria. However, a Super Cub isn't neccessarily about speeding down a high speed causeway, grinding out the morning rush with the rest of the proletariat's, but rather exploring the less traveled and quieter country lanes that lace my country together. Back when I was a young man, the Honda Passport was actually a 72cc version of the Honda Cub. It was perfect for such activities. I also find it interesting how you describe the Cub/Super Cub a "scooter". The term brings a Vespa, or other similar such vehicles, to mind. I consider the C series Honda's something else.
@kayrokk2 жыл бұрын
@@DeanMk1 I agree and so does Honda! It's not a scooter! It's an underbone MOTORCYCLE! Scooters have a CVT, floorboard and smaller diameter wheels.
@DeanMk12 жыл бұрын
@@kayrokk Thank you, I appreciate your support. The way I understand it, the Vespa was designed ergonomically. They literally sat a man in a chair and measured all the necessary distances and built the scooter around those dimensions. The small wheels and tires were simply a cost necessity. They were cheaper to get than larger wheels and tires. The CVT transmission allowed for simplicity of operation, as the scooter was meant to help get war torn Italy back on its feet. The Cub was an idea that was spawned when Honda took a trip to Europe in the 50's and noted all the moped's flying around, as they were very popular at the time. He was thinking about a simple motorcycle that would be cheap to produce and own. It is said he took a spin on a Kriedler K50 and based the original design of the Cub on those experiences. As a side note, my father was in the USAF in those days and based in Japan. He often told me, back then, Honda was known for making a small motor that one could fit to their bicycle to make getting around a little easier. The "Honda Step-Thru" motorcycles (as he called them) came a little later and used that same engine.

It's the only thing that held me up as far as getting a cub. Thank you for the video, enjoyed it.
@dansalas3993 жыл бұрын
The charging issue is easily solved with a $20 battery charger.. a rear rack/storage bin or bag solves the cargo carrying issue. I have a Honda Metropolitan with tons of storage and love it.. the Cub is a totally different experience than a scoot.. the semi-automatic transmission enables you to be more engaged with the bike, unlike the twist and go transmission, so the fun factor is much much more in addition to getting descent acceleration. Unlike the PCX, the Cub is a lot lighter and skinnier so its much easier to maneuver in traffic and you don’t have the same concern with dropping the bike. The 17inch wheel vs the smaller scooter tire soaks up road bumps much better. This iconic Cub is a huge winner in my book!

Cool little bike and the originals were bulletproof! So do you have to let off the throttle when you shift? Lol ✌🏻🇨🇦
@theprofessionaldillweed62354 жыл бұрын

About the shifting. It's not paddle shifting, it's lever shifting. I don't know if Honda named it that, I named it that.

So I have this motorcycle and I have a full face helmet and a Harley Davidson jacket with Kevlar in it that one of my friends gave me he was like wear this when you’re riding and don’t kill yourself so I was like OK cool so if it’s not cold, I put that on and if it’s cold, I put that on and then put other stuff onbecause Kevlar winning and I don’t give a rats booty what people think about how I look when I’m riding it. I love the thing it’s great.

Apparently it's called the Trail 125 now...it's finally on Honda's website. Hunter cub sounds cooler but they probably got afraid of offending people that don't hunt
