Simple. Rubicon is more for off road people. Sahara is like the higher end luxury vehicle. I personally got a 2020 Sahara Altitude and man does she get looks and compliments. I love it.

I sold my 12 JK Sahara and do not regret upgrading to a 15 Rubicon. I can notice the extra 4x4 capability like night and day specifically because of the front and rear lockers.

I bought my 5th Jeep this year. A 53k Rubicon. I honestly don’t plan on wheeling this one, but plan on doing light trails and camping with my daughter. Call it a “mall crawler” all you want, Ive been wheeling Jeeps since I bought a 97 model in mid 1996 and I just want a Jeep. I didn’t actually need a Rubi, but I could afford it and it’s what I wanted.

Fit smaller rims and 33" siped mudders on the Sahara. Disconnect the anti-sway bar, air down, and go offroading. It'll be fine. A 4:1 gearset in the tcase and some Ox lockers in the pumpkins will make such a Sahara offroad like a luxurious Rubicon...with better MPG on the slab.

I love them both--but I personally got the 2021 Unlimited Sahara Altitude because it just fits more of my everyday needs. It wasn't an easy decision because I did really like the Rubicon too though. Just the differences weren't worth it enough for me because the offroading would be something I'd do, it wouldn't nearly be frequent enough to warrant those differences. Even still, I just may give it a try next time! Great video! Loved the in depth side by side comparisons! Thank you for that!!

Great video. Many of the things (engine options, touch screen/sound system options, painted fenders, safety group, etc.) mentioned in the video are options applicable to both the Rubicon and Sahara. Specific differences in the two types of Wranglers: Rubicon: comes in 2 door or 4 door, front fenders raised 1" for larger tires, electronic sway bar disconnect, differential lockers, rock rails, 4.10 gear ratio (standard Sahara is 3.45), better front axle, option to upgrade to steel bumpers. Sahara: Upholstered dash, extra decorative trim on front grill and lights, and option for Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD.

I was leaning towards the Sahara but after watching this video I can clearly see that the Sahara, although pretending luxury upscale when it's not (roof and side pillars, cheap plastic). So to my surprise it's' the Rubicon, way more jeep, less boulevard cruiser. Better resale value too!

Simple if you are only in the city and want an off-road vehicle for getting groceries and mall crawling get the Sahara. If you want the best of Jeep get the Rubicon. or save a Ton of money get a Sport and build it out the way you want.

If you like to do moderate off-roading the Rubicon is the best option. If you don't off-road but will ever want to run larger tires than stock, the Rubicon is the best option. For a daily driver that looks nice, has nice power options, only does mild off-roading, and will never have larger than stock sized tires, the Sahara might be the best option.

Rubicon only if you’re into off-roading, rock crawling, or overlanding. Not worth it to buy a rubicon as a daily city driver. If you want a luxurious vehicle with added piece of mind in having 4x4 for heavy snow, etc., then Sahara.

A sport is not bad off road. OBVIOUSLY a Rubicon will be more off road worthy right out of the dealership, but most people who are serious about 4x4ing will modify their jeeps to their own needs. Don't let the prices scare you away and the fact that it's not a Rubicon.

Went with the Sahara. The price difference was too great to justify the rubicon. I’d rather lift it myself and add the sway bar disconnects. With the off-roading that I do, I don’t need rockers as the slip diff will do the job for me. If not, I could add aftermarket axles and lockers.

If you are talking about the JL version of the Wrangler the main difference is that the Recon comes (came...they don't offer it anymore) with a package deal on the dealer options that worked out to be a little cheaper than if you ordered a Rubicon and then added those options individually. Other than that, the only other difference is extra decals/badges on the hood, a different style rock rail, and red seatbelts.

I would get that Sahara, both r dirty tho for a car dealership. Although the tires and cloth seats were nice in the Rubicon the Sahara had everything but better. They had amazing leather contrast seats, contrast on the door and the hourglass taillights. There's rly not much a difference offroading, nor does it make sense to buy a $50k car solely for offroading like a 2006 or 1997 jeep will do just as well... On top of that although they have the CAPABILITY ur just damaging ur car everytime u take it offroad, plummeting it's value, and wearing out materials.

The Sahara can come equipped with Selec Trac. It's basically part time all wheel drive. Good for winter driving.

The simplest way to explain the difference is the Sahara is going to be a bit more “luxury” while the rubicon is meant more for off-roading. However, both vehicles are perfectly capable for malls or the trails. A lot of it will depend on what mods you wind up doing to it. Don’t get me wrong, there’s more differences, but it’s just easier to say in short that the Sahara is closer to a “luxury” wrangler while the rubicon is more built for the trails while still being fine for daily driving.

Rubicon is a heavier and has larger tires which will impact MPG; however, the engine selected will sway that too. A Rubicon with the 2.0L might get better MPG than a Sahara with the 3.6L.
