Just in case it hasn't benn mentioned, riding mode can be changed when you're off-throttle. Takes a few seconds of holding the toggle up or down.

The naked middleweight class is now the most competitive it's ever been, you've the MT-09, KTM 790 & 890R , Street Triple R & RS, Ducati 821 and then the value for money Suzuki GSX-S750 & Kawasaki Z900, something there for everyone.

Man, the competition has really helped add features and lower the prices for the class. Don't forget the BMW F 900 R is on that list now, too. I think technically it's cheaper than the Kawasaki Z900 and is just as loaded on features. I'm between the MT-09, Z900, and the F 900 R. It's gonna be very hard to choose one.

I got that exact bike 2 weeks ago in that color... after 6 months of researching and test driving a dozen other bikes.. it really is the best bike out there for the money. Its a pussy cat when you turn it down to L but it turns into a monster when you turn traction control off and give it access to all 125 ponies. I love it to death.

A couple notes on the bike as an owner. The windshield does absolutely nothing (not a huge issue), it pulls like an animal, it is actually super approachable because of how linear the torque is, the preload is set all the way down in the rear from factory so set it to your correct weight before going into anything crazy, and my last note is that the stock exhaust is TERRIBLE! You are going to want to put a full system on it as soon as possible. All in all it is a fantastic bike that keeps impressing me every time I ride it!

I owned the very first Ninja that came out in 1984, the Ninja 900, and the thing I loved most about it was how stable it was. it just felt planted. I can't imagine how sweet this 900 must feel since it's 36 years newer technology. I just wish this Z900 had an upper fairing so you would not be battered by the wind. I don't want a 2020 sport bike in order to get the fairings. the seating positions are to extreme for me,

I am an old kawasaki fan - the first new street bike I ever bought was a KZ 750 1984 ( I was about 27 then ) . It was a light metal flake blue one with a dark blue pinstripe. I searched for hours and only found one or two of that color . 20 years ago I got a used 1984 KZ 550 LTD . Then in 2019 I got a red Z900 ( only has ABS ) . I liked it so much that I then got a blue 2020 . I have 1500 miles on it and about 6500 miles on the red one . I love them both - I am also 6 1 and about 200 lbs . I don't do tricks or anything but on the red 2019 bike - after the 600 mile break in, I always accelerated hard . Even so, I got 5000 on the rear tire before replacement . I almost never use the rear brake ... The fastest I have been is 145 MPH on both bikes . What about you ?

I currently own and ride a 2016 cb500f and been wanting a new bike. I feel like mt-07 is just not enough of an upgrade but something like the mt-09 is a bit to much. Really like the idea of the new 2019-2020 cbr650r. 95HP, comfy but still sporty, HAS A WINDSHIELD. But then ive been looking at the z900. Seems like you get so much more bike and unlike the mt-09 this bike seems more comfortable with how it handles its power. Would like your thought as someone who has ridden the mt-07 and 09. Also did the Z900 windshield work at all?
@Adamn58
@Adamn58 3 жыл бұрын
I actually own a 2020 Z900 and I can tell you the windshield does absolutely nothing. But there are aftermarket options to fix that. The Z900 is a truly amazing bike that is so tame down low but rowdy as hell when you pin it! Highly recommend it to anyone looking in that class of bikes. Also if you’re worried about power it makes 95hp in the low power setting so you could always start there and move up to the full 125

@@Adamn58 thank you for the comment! My issue with after market windshields is how bad they can make a naked bike look. I really do like the z900 (even tho I'm a Honda fan) most likely it come down to the aftermarket windshield covers, cost of insurance between the two, and if they ever release the cbr650r in the USA with a different color then bright red.

@Bunnyshooter 223 lol why? The rear shock is fine I was talking about front forks.yamaha should give it stock I would buy the z650 2020 ( better looks and features )or cb650r if I want to get 650cc. Even though fz07 has some disadvantages , it has best sound in it's segment apart from cb650r

@@jackrabbit9979 Check out Dave Moss on you tube. He has a fix for the fz07 forks. I did this to mine and it works pretty well. I changed the shock to an ohlins stx46 sprung for my weight 140 lbs. I agree with you on your comparison to z650. I like the ninja650 also. The cb650r is a good bike, but I like 2020 z900 for roughly same price and only slightly heavier.

I am looking at this bike and the Honda cb650r that you also reviewed. I'm 5'5" 140 lbs and both bikes fit me well. Very similar excellent ergonomically, z900 is barely heavier and has more hp and torque. I prefer the tft display on the z900. Price is roughly the same. Looks wise it's a tough call. I have a 2016 fz07 which I'm keeping so I guess the z900 makes more sense.

@@russellowens1946 Nothing yet. The cb650r seems unavailable in my area and I decided that I really don't like the looks of the z900. I like the z900rs and rs cafe, but they're a bit tall.

Told the trans does not shift that great and tires spen easy on damp or wet roads one person said his bike was stuck on rain mode and he had to keep taking it back to get it service and it will pop wheelies if you give it to much gas 😐

How do you do it? I'm 5"3 and have trouble with that sort of stuff too. I always have to stop with one foot and that's on a bike with a 790mm seat height! Let alone a sports bike upward of 820mm!

I'm 5'5" 28" inseam and z900 fits ok, balls of my feet. I use Sidi canyon gore boots which have a thicker sole than some others. You should be putting only the left foot down in most cases anyway, right foot on the rear brake.
