Wish you'd have recorded the process of removing the old bar and bolting up the new one.

Yeah, I was still getting this aspect of the channel ramped up at that time and didn't think of it till after the fact. It's not hard. Mount in the new bar to get the angle where you want, flip the throttle housing, drill a couple holes for the pin indexes and Bob's your uncle...

Love the new look and definitely Would agree on black bars later

I put the road 5’s on my MT09 as well. Much better than stock. I actually like the gold look of the bars. At least in video it goes well with the bike to me 👍👍

Yeah, there is yellow on the bike and gold flake in the paint so when the sun hits it, it really pops... Test rode it an hour ago, and the new tires feel great and the bar is perfect. It feels like a Street Triple or Monster now. Aggressive enough, but still comfortable...

@@Daves_Man_Cave really like all the mods you do. Did you end up keeping the MA006 or go for the MA009? Trying to decide

@@philippluklas MA006 was what I ended up keeping
@philippluklas2 жыл бұрын
@@Daves_Man_Cave thanks for your response. I still ended up ordering the MA009, trying to be conservative. My main motivation wasn’t so much the color but also that I find the handling disappointing compared to my Monster, Speed Triple and Supersport. Hope it’s actually about the handlebar height and switching to some Rosso 4s or RoadAttack4s in combination will make if feel different

@@philippluklas Its never gonna feel like a monster due to the weight... But tires, a lower sportier bar, a new shock and dialing in the forks, will transform the bike. I used Michelin Road 5 on mine, and I have the new Road 6's on my Speed Twin and love them. Great in the rain, good in the dry, long mileage and holds up to a track day. Can't ask for more than that, right?

It might be just a camera lens distortion, but to me it looks like the angle of the grips is not as it supposed to be. It looks like it needs to be rotated a bit downwards. Otherwise the grips are parallel to the ground and tiled inwards. I think if you rotate it the grip will be more natural, but it'll become even lower than now. Why didn't you take the cafe version? :)
@Daves_Man_Cave3 жыл бұрын
Probably a little bit of both. I turned it down a little, and since then swapped it out for the slightly taller Rizoma MA009. Same bar, but silver and 25mm taller. Seems to be the sweet spot.

What did you do with the little alignment pins that are inside the throttle cable housing and the Killswitch? Grind them off?
@Daves_Man_Cave2 жыл бұрын
Nope, just line it up where they need to go, mark where the pin sits with a Sharpie, and then drill a small hole for the pins to lock into. Measure twice and drill once!

Thanks! I’ve been following all of your videos and I’m doing the same mods pretty much. I had Ivan flash the ECU and I’m running a Zard snake weld exhaust. Has somebody who grew up in the 80s these bikes represent something I really wanted as a kid! I wish you could still get an open Kerker megaphone exhaust :-)

Hey man, good vid. We actually rode together a few weeks back on Blood and RBR. I recently comparing Rizomas, Renthals, and ProTapers. I personally like the stock bars, but mine got bent in a tip over recently. If you're looking to sell your stock bars, I'll buy them from you.

Hey man, I actually just upgraded the MA006 bar that I have in the video, to the the MA009 from Rizoma. Same bar as the gold one, but 25mm taller. So in between the stock bar and the low bar. Should be perfect. Yeah, I don't think I will need the stock bar, so buy me lunch or something and its yours.

Squire, I'm also a tall knuckledragger so the stock bar might not be a keeper here, either. Does the Rizoma allow use of the stock bar-end weights?
@Daves_Man_Cave3 жыл бұрын
No, the stock bar as a threaded nut welded into the end, that the stock bar ends screw into. The Rizoma doesn't have that, and actually has a pretty small diameter inner diameter, smaller than stock. I put a bar end mirror on the left, and a cheap bar end on the other, both from Cycle Gear... You can see them in the video for reference.

I keep going back and forth between two bars, trying to find the right balance of performance and comfort. The gold bar here is the Rizoma MA006, and the slightly taller silver bar that I have on it at the moment, is the Rizoma MA009

Because Kawi wants like $230 or something crazy for that bar. This one feels good in the twisties but makes my neck hurt on longer rides where I am not moving around much... So I ordered a Rizoma MA009, which should do the trick, and still a fraction of the price of the Cafe bar from Kawi...
