I got the LX with 6 spd a week ago and so far impressed. Interior is simple and conservative, no piano black plastic trims and plasti chromes, great ergonomic with the steering wheel and the shifter, the clutch has no play and feels just right with a little to get used to with 1st and 2nd gears. It feels very engaging to drive and rides almost like the sports car I used to have. Very simple, fun, and affordable while being extremely practical. Practicality on this car trumps cuvs in every way, plus cuvs nowadays don't even come with a manual.

You've nailed it on the important things. It was very helpful that you commented on the way the Soul drives. I love my '17 Soul. When shopping my interest was in the Forte 5. I hadn't thought of a Soul but at one point found myself standing next to one. The paint was so beautiful it made me look at the interior and that made me want to drive it. The way it drives is why I bought it. For anyone unfamiliar--drive one--they're very solid and truly get good gas mileage. The KIA Soul is the result when an auto manufacturer cares about the customer. KIA came out with a good car in the beginning, kept improving it, and kept the price down. We may be witnessing history here as the Soul is now ten years in and if KIA continues it another ten years the Soul will be legendary on the level of the VW Bug.

I just bought a 2017 Soul Plus model a month ago. Love the way it drives in Sport Mode. Kind of wish I got it in manual instead of manual. As a commuter car, it's the perfect mix of handling, comfort and fuel efficiency ( I have gotten 34-35 mpg on pure highway trips). The Kia Soul reminds me of the older generation Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf platforms.

I agree about the styling. Both the front and back end styling is looking much sharper this year. I definitely think the rear styling is much improved. The previous taillights always looked like two big grab bar handles to me.

Yea the Mazda is a superior vehicle but will have to pay quite premium over the Kia soul

I definitely agree about getting the 2.0L engine/IVT in the standard trim levels. The ride will be better and that engine/transmission combo not only work really well but will be more reliable. The GT Line 1.6T is very cool for what it is, a unique car that’s quick, but for $28k I’ll pass. The S trim or EX trim in yellow is definitely on my short list.

Savage geese all day. Great review, the recent Hyundai Kia recalls is very concerning, however I would not buy in the first year. I need to see how the cvt will hold up. Kia hyundai are new to the cvt game in mainstream cars. Lastly why were you standing in front of a Hyundai most of the video?

It was a true pleasure meeting him. Thanks so much for your kind words, I do agree that it sucks Kia Hyundai is going through this recall phase but in their defense, Chevy, Subaru, BMW, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. have all gone through the same or worse with their vehicles and they are still a crowd favorite nobody is taking down aventador or 458 posters from their walls. As for the CVT yes it is their first attempt, performance wise they nailed it however like you mentioned reliability is unknown fortunately their warranty is strong and they will cover any mishaps I hope. Haha Veloster is my personal car I decided to record commentary when I got home so I’m not stressed about it while I’m at the event, gives me a clearer view however, I didn’t take into consideration the terrible NC weather so next time I’m at an event I probably will shoot commentary right then and there in front of the vehicle. I just viewed a photo of a Soul X-Line - with LED headlights - at the Kia website. 'Makes me wonder about the option packages they'll offer. This redesigned Soul is the first one I'd actually like to own.

Hmm I think Los Angeles has really great roads I THINK. If that’s the case I would have to go with Veloster R spec, really really fun car. Mazda 3 is really superb great all rounder and pleasurable to drive another car I absolutely love. The soul rides really well especially if you went for an EX trim with 16” wheels wow best riding car. Also it’s cheap and has most amounts of space for passengers and cargo by far so if that’s important there’s your choice. GT N line sounds really appealing should be like the Veloster but more refined I say if you have some great roads you won’t regret either of the Hyundai cars you listed Civic is fun too but the Hyundai pricing just out rules it. just got my 2020 LX in Platinum/gold and I'm pissed as hell I didn't get the disco lights or any choices on wheel styles, mine is the blackish brown color center, I wanted shiny spoke like but I did get an electric drivers seat which is amazing, im 5,9 inches 5 feet being legs and I have plenty of leg room with still adequate room for a back seat passenger should one dare to ride with me lol Overall I love the car just wish I could have gotten the mood lighting and tire choice

Hyundai, Kia just recalled over 500,000 vehicles due to engine fire risk... among them are nearly 379,000 Kia Soul’s from 2012 through 2016 with the 1.6-liter engines... hopefully the 2020 wouldn’t have these problems.

Yea my response to that is, a lot of cars have gone through this: Subaru’s, BMWs, E class Mercs, every Lambo and I’m not exaggerating, Porsche GT3s, Ferrari, etc but no doubt it sucks this is happening and yea I think the new 1.6 turbo, which I have in my Veloster, is over hauled and different. Regardless I hope Kia Hyundai makes this right and I hope no one gets hurt. But thank you so much for stopping by my friend

They are coming out with two tone colors like that and there is a designer model available for the 2020. 11 standard colors and 7 two tones will be available I just happens to shoot a bland gray one

Yes trunk space is ample for most smaller than like a Toyota RAV4 and probably a bit more than a Toyota CHR but more than any sedan that’s for sure and you have the option of having a flat load space in the back very practical car overall for things in the back and 6 foot plus adults

Right lots of companies have had problems with CVTs. That’s why Kia held off for so long and studied everyone’s CVTs. I can’t comment on reliability only thing I can talk about is performance. But as far as reliability is concerned I hope Kia sticks to their 10 year warranty and cover their buyers when problems arise

@@camilleonz558 They did at one point and it subsided, I'm just saying cars that people worship more than Jesus Christ have gone through problems, Kia Hyundai is going through their phase and it does definitely sucks for both consumers and the company. Companies try to evolve at such a rapid pace to please consumer demand that some products will have have issues, like Samsung with their batteries. I hope they can make this right and look after those who are effected, their cars are great usually segment leaders so it bothers me to hear about such mishaps as well. Take care.
