New Land Rover Defender will be available in 90 and 110 body designs, with up to six seats in the 90 and the option of five, six or 5+2 seating in the 110. The model range comprises Defender, S, SE, HSE, First Edition and top of the range Defender X models and customers will be able to personalise their vehicle in more ways than any previous Land Rover with four Accessory Packs. The Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban Packs each give Defender a distinct character with a specially selected range of enhancements. The exclusive First Edition model features a unique specification and will be available throughout the first model year of production.
Powertrains
New Land Rover Defender will be available with a wide range of powertrains including Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technologies and a range of advanced and efficient Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, all fitted with intelligent Stop/Start technology to minimise emissions. The advanced PHEV powertrain will join the range next year and with it comes the promise of silent zero-emissions driving in EV mode.
At launch, diesel power comes from a choice of four-cylinder D200 or D240 engines, with sequential twin turbo technology providing 430Nm of torque to optimise performance and economy. The D200 delivers fuel economy of 37.2mpg (7.6 l/100km) and 0-100km/h in 10.3 seconds (0-60mph in 9.9 seconds) while the more powerful D240 matches the 200PS for efficiency while accelerating from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds (0-60mph in 8.7 seconds). Both provide competitive CO2 emissions of 199g/km (NEDC equivalent).
Petrol customers will be able to choose between a turbocharged four-cylinder P300 engine and an efficient six-cylinder P400 MHEV powertrain. The 300HP unit uses an advanced twin-scroll turbo for smooth performance and efficiency, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds (0-60mph in 7.7 seconds) with CO2 emissions as low as 227g/km (NEDC equivalent).
The state-of-the-art MHEV powertrain harvests energy normally lost during deceleration and redeploys it to optimise efficiency. The in-line six-cylinder Ingenium petrol features both a conventional twin-scroll turbocharger and an advanced 48-volt electric supercharger, with a belt-integrated starter motor in place of the alternator to assist the petrol engine, and a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to store energy captured as the vehicle slows down. In combination, these advanced technologies provide 400HP and 550Nm of torque, 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds (0-60mph in 6.1 seconds) and fuel consumption as low as 29.4mpg (9.6l/100km) with CO2 emissions of 220g/km (NEDC equivalent).
All engines drive through a smooth and responsive eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and twin-speed transmission, to provide a set of low-range ratios essential for towing or off-road driving when more control is required.

Honestly, the more i see videos of it, the more i'm starting to accept change. The momocorce chasis is the most robust chasis Landrover has ever built(10X) stronger than the older body on frame one. It has a higher ground clearance than the old one(higher than the Jeep Wrangler BTW) and the tech is Superb and yes, you still need tech even in the Serengeti. So yeah i've changed my mind about it for the last 6 months since it's launch and have accepted it. DEADLIEST BADASS front end on any car BTW

LR have created something special here. If they had have created another old fashioned tractor that appealed to the mud pluggers and farmers it would be a commercial failure for sure! The off road numbers for this vehicle speak for themselves and lr are clearly chasing a younger outdoors well heeled market. No point chasing the low end family 4x4 market, plenty of cars out there already that fill that segment... No, they will create a new market with this car that MUST be cool, capable, connected and fun. Well done LR.

Farmers and mud pluggers as you call them has always been land rovers bread and butter market they were used because of the utilitarian design when the farmers and mud plugger broke anything it was put right making the parts market probably as big as the sales. Surely there are enough Chelsea tractors to choose from already.

Your offroad packages look 10years a head of everyone else's! I want one, I just might have to sell my truck and car and buy one.
