20 years sounds allot for a modern car. Old cars are still around because they are mostly mechanic and analog still. My 97 LC is still going strong because it is a simple well oiled machine made to do its job. But i doubt the ammount of high tech gadgets on these suvs will last that time
@rapmastac13623 жыл бұрын
@@Napoleon_Blownapart I tend to agree with this as I prefer cars where the technology is in the entertainment and safety, moving that over to the engine and drivetrain can tend to complicate things. The other thing to keep in mind is manufacturing has also been improved technology wise, the materials, techniques, and assembly are all improved over time (hopefully, and not just made cheaper). Who knows, maybe all this extra tech is going to be akin to frame rust in older vehicles. Above all, reliability depends a lot on the manufacturer, but also on the owner. I would rather have a car with higher mileage or that is slightly older that has been garage kept and taken care of as far as maintenance and how it's driven, than a newer car that hasn't had the same treatment. But circling back around, I prefer more simple designs that enable me to work on them myself with my own tools. But in 20 years, I believe we will know all the issues this tech has and know to steer clear or be cautious.
@Napoleon_Blownapart3 жыл бұрын
@@rapmastac1362 Cars are now part of the planned obsolescence mentality of manufacturers I unfortunately believe. It just not profitable for them to make cars that still hold on strongly for decades, they need the consumer to renovate their fleets more and more frequently.

Outside the USA Toyota sells and will keep selling the Prado LC150 , the LC200 (the only LC model that was sold in the USA) , the FJ Cruiser, and also many versions of the hardcore, old school Land Cruiser such as the LC76 (4 door SUV), the LC78 (10 pax "troop carrier") and LC79 Single and Double cab pickup versions. I have a 2011 Prado 3.0 Diesel and its the most solid, comfortable and reliable vehicle I've ever owned, by far, and in 4 years of ownership it hasn´t only not depreciated, but actually appreciated, keeping up with inflation.
