I don't if one should be excited by these top speeds or not, just for reference a few years ago i drove from Bombay to Delhi and my diesel Nissan Micra topped out at 164 kph. That was about 6 years ago. yes its a lighter car but this is a more powerful engine and at least one generations ahead in terms of engine tech. Also i dont see how M&M can claim this to be a family car when 4 adults can just about manage to fit in and there is minimal boot space. The rear seat seems very cramped and there is no wat that this can in any way be a long drive companion. It is still at best a weekend getaway car or meant of young kids with adventurer aspirations. I hope the 5 door version that M&M are working on takes these factors into consideration.

No no. This thing feels completely diff. Ofcourse due to high center of gravity and suspension articulation, you still have to be careful over 120. We did hit 170 and at those speeds , YES, you need to be careful. But for usual fast highway runs of 100-120 pose no problem. Just don't expect it to brake like the Vcross / other suvs

160 is enough for a rugged suv. Give it an arm rest and bigger glove box and some bottle holders in back. Its easy if not deliberately taken away for a future upgrade. Mahindra.

Impossible - even the XUV or Scorpio with more power can't manage 0 to 100 under 11 seconds ;)

@@91Wheels i get it buddy .....what m saying is we shud push these manufacturers in getting something peppy .. iam well aware of fuel quality we have etc .. but still its not impossible .. we in india suffer so massively from kitna deti hai syndrome that we are being pushed with dead cars ...the fun of an internal combustion engine is lost .. for reference my 2006 honda civic does 0 to 100 in 9.9 sec......the octavia is good ...y cant thar do ...maybe a dynamic version ..which is moe for road fun and less off road .. just a thought

Not really and this is expected given the high center of gravity and suspension travel. Not scary but you need to have both hands on steering.. 100-120 is a very comfortable zone for the Thar

@Dear Admin... I have a humble sincere request... As seen in media drives you have direct communication with Mahindra... Can you convey them following two very simple modifications request from several ones like me::: (I have NO PROBLEM with 2 doors or bad finishing at rear seats area) 1. Fuel Tank Opening Switch 2. Movable captain rear seats (it will allow to increase boot space as and when required without folding the rear seats, by only pushing the rear seats forward) 3. Excuse Thar fans but if the Thar was powered by Mahindra's all aluminium 1.5 liter diesel unit from the Marazzo it would clear the 100kmph mark in less than 11 seconds! It produces an identical 30kgm torque as the current 2.2 mhawk cast iron unit while still being much lighter. Not to mention the huge tax savings by employing the 1.5 liter diesel engine.
