Just subscribed - great videos ..you both look amazing and are living my life. That lagoon 46 is gorgeous but dont think I can afford new :( I am also in the market for a lagoon and have been looking at a used Lagoon 45 and the Lagoon 440.. preferably an owners version DO you have an opinion on either of these boats would love to hear as I need all the advice I can get ! Seem you are a fan of the Lagoon since this will be your second one - Are they reliable? Your videos are so informative and really appreciate your taking the time to make them ..Enjoy !

I have spent a lot of time on the lagoon 440 with my friends form SAILING IPANEMA, they are going around the world with their L440. TI I loved the layout, one of the the reasons why I sold my L42 and upgraded was because I felt the need for just a little more space and at times felt sunk in the sport top helm station which is the only version available at the L42. There are pros and cons for both SPORTOP and FLYBRIDGE, but the view and space on the flybridge makes a lot of sense to me so decided to move forward with it. In terms of Lagoons against its main competitors like FP, Leopard, Nautitech, it is a close call, they are all production catamarans very well made. I like the lagoons because I want to make sure I have a support platform in terms of spare parts and maintance that works around the world, and to me Lagoon was unbeatable. Also I like to keep my eyes on the resell value of those catamaran. Because Lagoon is so well know and reliable, also because of their large success with the L440 and L450, there are a lot of those boats out there, making a nich catamaran market a little wider when it comes to Lagoons. I have done a lot reaserch on how those boats kept their value along the years and to me Lagoon was the option we felt it was the best. @@SailingJoy thanks so much for your reply..I love the 440 that's what sold me on lagoon..the 450 just has a few more things going for it beside being newer.. especially the seperate showers and cockpit. But I have heard from some to stay away from boats older than 10 years as you will have nothing but trouble .. so for that reason am leaning more towards the 450. It is a beautiful boat for sure, but I am not really convinced about the logic of flybridge operations on Owners models. As a couple, is it not a concern of yours getting down from the flybridge in those last critical seconds coming alongside? I think the help position on the 42 is a good compromise and by all means, have a lounge up top, but having the controls up there too?... I dunno...

It is and because of that concern our last boat did not have a fly bridge. Since then I did have the chance to sail on other lagoons with flybridge and truly enjoyed. To be very honest with you there will be pro and cons on both layouts that needs to be analyzed before one can make the final decision. I feel we will be ok but will certainly write back to you after a couple of months onboard to provide you with more info. Thanks for leaving this question, I am pretty sure this is top of mind for many people that are going thru same analyses. Fair winds !

@@SailingJoy did you have the cameras installed for port aft quarter / starboard aft quarter, and aft for docking and med mooring? Kayla and I are convinced that we will need them even though we will also have HTs and headsets (2M simplex, as I'm a ham, and she will be). The cameras seem to be a no-brainer, but she would still have to be down there with the fender and radio for the last feet that the cameras can't see.

@@SailingJoy I really like the fly bridge and the forward and all around view it provides, but the one place that lacks a good view from helm is the aft quarters and stern, and at the cost of these boats, the cameras and radios provide peace of mind in docking, and maybe a bit on security as well (multi-input DVR units are cheap now as is high capacity storage). Please tell us if it makes the insurance man happy ($$$$). Safety is always the best choice.
