Definitely a reliable car... I left my 5.0 stock and it's nearly 270k miles now and only had to replace fuel pump back at 130k and I beat this piss out of it for 10+ years it's 2011. Just fluid changes and you're good.

Hey! Nice review. The only thing I might recommend for you to make your baby last as long as possible is to increase your oil changes. Instead of every 10K miles, do it every 5K miles. Mechanics swear by this. A buddy of mind told me that the 10K thing is the bare minimum and that it's just better- especially, in the higher performance engines- and protects the engine more. Otherwise, nice job on the 20K review. Thanks.

Of COURSE they're reliable. They're Mustangs. I bought a 2012 Shelby GT500 in 2011, and, while I only have about 35,000 miles on it, it's a little more hyper than a GT. I've changed oil and tires frequently. Brakes once. Other than that, NOTHING. And I drive vigorously. I have seen 28 mpg on a serious econo run on the highway, but I won't kid you that that is my normal mileage (because it's probably HALF of that or maybe worse), but NO rattles. (Rattles?! That would spell the end of things for me.) This car is the best purchase of my life, and I've owned probably 30 cars. I'm considering adding to the fleet, keeping the Shelby, but honestly I don't know what I would buy that gives me the hoot that the Shelby does. I'd like to have IRS, though. That's my chief complaint about my car.

Now that your Mustang is more of a garage queen, are you still glad you got the automatic? I daily a 2021 with the MT-82, and while it's not a great transmission it hasn't been near as bad as people make it out to be online.

Think of american muscle cars as a pickup superlagera...the mustang shares a lot with the F150 in terms of engine and transmission so the drive train isn't going to be you main issue but the electronics are hit or miss [with any and all american cars]...apart from that as long as Billy or timmy didn't put it together after a liquid lunch they're pretty reliable. Remember as well big V8 low revs and long legs makes them last a LONG time on stock engines [reason why some F150s have 400k miles with basic maintenance].
