Since clearly everyone’s going to shoot for the huge, highest point value target in the dead center, next year they should design it like a skee ball game. 10’s in the two corners, 8 in the top center 5 in the middle center and 3 in the bottom center. Just hitting the backboard to it should be a one. There’s really no need to spread the targets far apart like they do in the nfl quarterbacks throw challenge.

@@funnyfartvideos8244 I notice that you keep posting the same thing in multiple threads without actually explaining. The first shot for Marner in his opening round did the same as his OT shot, it went in between the two pieces of the arch. It moved the mesh as it fell, but wasn't caught by it, and dropped into the middle of the base of the target. The lights went off, but it was a mistake. The second shot did go in properly, but since they had already credited him with 10 points erroneously, they didn't do anything for the second one. He was correctly scored at 22.

I don't think there was an issue with the scoring disputes as much as there was with a confusion on the optical illusions. Next time make the 10 smaller, and not in center. The 2s and 4s are completely pointless when the 10 is the biggest target. Maybe put more smaller targets over the ice, maybe like a golden puck or one of those small nets that are used for practising, it would be more fun if every shot hit something you know? I feel like this competition points were either 0, 10 or 20 + maybe 2... Try to be creative with this competition. It has a lot of potential. But if you want to keep it the way we saw yesterday, don´t bring it back please.

Emphatic nope it hit the back of the arch and fell out the back side of the mesh at 5:06. You just can’t see it on the Sportsnet camera angle. And before you say “but the puck doesn’t disappear” well it’s only 30 FPS so you probably can’t notice. The NBC broadcast has a better angle that shows that the shot DOESN’T count.

@@kyleraymer5581 Commentary I've read suggests it was of mixed success. The novelty carried it to some degree, but the scoring was tough enough to follow watching it as a fan at home, let alone in the arena. Even the person scoring it electronically for the network didn't seem to know if a target had been hit or not. And winner Patrick Kane went on record saying he prefers more traditional skills competition. So, declaring it a huge hit comes across as more personal opinion than objective observation.

@@kwetribute3838 I was just going based off what NBC and the players were saying about it as well as the reactions on NBC's twitter. I think it will get some tweaks in the future though. It might end up like the Shoot Out contest they did several years ago where everyone loved it for the first couple years then it just died out quickly. Again though, I'd be very surprised if it's not done again next year, but with some tweaks. It defiantly has potential.
@kwetribute3838

@@kyleraymer5581 Fair enough. Other Twitter feeds had mixed reaction and it was clear from the Canadian feed the commentators were unable to consistently know if a shot had resulted in points or not. I don't see it coming back, I suspect the NHL will go back to the drawing board to figure out something a little less silly.
@kyleraymer5581
@kyleraymer5581 4 жыл бұрын
@@kwetribute3838 I don't think not being able to see which shots hit or not is a good reference on if they liked it or not. Those sound just something they didn't like about their seats or Camera work. I do know the NHL was talking about what they could do different with it next year (Which hints to me that it's probably not going away so I'm not really sure why you think it will) but I think it's obvious the arch won't be there so that may solve every thing. I personally think they need to make the target that's worth the most be the hardest to hit. Seemed like it was the easiest in this one so it was the one everyone aimed for, even when they only needed 1 point.

The concept of a long shot is interesting but they need to work out the quirks. Everyone went for the 10 shot so they need to fix that problem as well, such as make that the only target? Add a roof over the target, etc. I'm sure they'll improve it and it'll be a great product in 5 years if they keep working on this.
