2009 to 2013 was the first gen with the redesign coming in 2014 with the exception of some 2014 and 2015 special editions being first gen body's. I own a 2013 with 196k and having the tranny replaced at 192k. My wife.picked up a 2012 with 36k 4 months ago. Do not buy a new Nissan, resale is horrible. If you look you can buy a used one fully loaded SL model for 15k+ less than a new one only 2 yrs old with less than 30k. CVT in them is still garbage and I wont buy one, the only reason I let my wife is because she hardly drives and it had super low miles.

I consider myself a car enthusiast. I’ve always owned cars with RWD bias like an Infiniti G35 and Dodge Charger. However, with a stay at home wife and two children, I got my wife a top of the line pathfinder SL for the family and a Rogue for my commute across state for work. I am pleased with the flatness of the Rogue, the comfort, space, value, and excellent gas mileage. Yes, it does not accelerate like the 300 horsepower cars I’m used to but it’s smooth enough for my day to day commute. I was looking for value when I purchased this vehicle not necessarily fun. I will try to baby the CVT. I have a 2020 model so I am hoping they fixed most issues. The Pathfinder is heavier and feels more luxurious but it’s literally double in price. I am looking forward to getting as much value as I can out of this vehicle. It is larger and cheaper and better looking than a RAV4

I have a 2018 Rogue that is much more comfortable than my spouse's 2017 Rav4. The Rogue really shines on the highway and in a head to head cross country drive, got slightly better mileage than our Rav4, as well. Both vehicles have been 100% reliable.

We're on our third Rogue and have loved EACH one. They're GREAT cars! I don't understand "automotive professional's" issue with it. Like you said, they're overly critical and I feel they've lost the connection to the real world. The Rogue may be due for a redesign, but it's STILL a great car that has GREAT features, looks good, is spacious, very comfortable, nice ride, great on gas, great AWD system that's killer on snow (way better than CRV's AWD), it's reliable (we haven't had any issues with any of our 3 Rogues), and on top of it all they've all been priced cheaper than their competitors. Like, DUH! No wonder it's such a hot seller and why they're everywhere, much to the bewilderment of "professionals." Great review, BTW! (Our current Rogue is a 2017 SL AWD w/premium and platinum packages, coming off lease next month and we love it so much we're deciding to keep it!)

A lot of people put the Rogue down, but we bought a 2017 and immediately camped coast to coast in it and back. In 77K miles the only casualties we had were a dead battery and needing a set of tires. Regular transmission fluid changes are they key to longevity of the CVT. Unfortunately, they can't handle a 12 point buck impact at 35 MPH.

Great review! I think reviewers are too harsh when reviewing CVT transmissions. When you get used to it, it can be a lot smoother that a traditional transmission; especially in city driving. I drive a 2018 Rogue and my lease is up in a few months.....so I've been test driving all of the competitors and their transmissions are jerky when hunting for gears. I love the rugged looks of the RAV4, but I was shocked at how bad that transmission was. The Escape just seemed to be searching for the right gear at lower speeds.....same with the Equinox. I drive 90/10 city/highway miles, so I think CVT's work great with the type of driving that I do. Any incline will highlight the shortcomings of the CVT by exuding a loud groan when you make it work a bit.....but I'll take that over the whiplash jerk that the RAV4 exhibits on the same incline or intersection. I know buying a Rogue or any SUV with the CVT can be risky because of the cost to replace them, but I think all of the competitors newer 8 and 9 speed transmissions will have as many problems as the CVT's in time.

I just got my 2020 Nissan Rogue sl awd yesterday. It looks really great. It has so many electronic things. Maybe too many. Certainly more than I'll ever use. I gave my 2013 Kia Sorento ER with a six cyl. I loved that car. My older son needed it for his growing family. The only really bad thing about the Rogue is that it's underpowered. Living in NYC doesnt allow me to go too fast so it won't be a problem. I expect to have many good auto years from my Nissan.

I own a 2017 Nissan Rogue SV. It isn't a sports car but I think a nice v6 would fit under that hood as easy as the 4 cylinder does I think it is low on power. My mileage over the road interstate driving is about 30.5 not bad. The seats boy all seats should for the human body like these do I have never adjusted mine. Great vid. I am currently in a 2017 Rogue SV lease about to expire. My 2017 model includes Nav, bird's eye cameras and heated seats. With a slightly bigger budget, I thought I would treat myself and went to Infiniti dealer to attempt to lease either a QX50 or QX60. To my shock, neither of these models had base options anywhere near the humble Rogue. To get navigation AND heated seats you had to go up several levels in packages with a huge price increase . I could not believe that Infiniti offers leather seats only in an upgrade package and does NOT automatically include heat option - you have to pay extra for heating leather seats? And yeah, Infiniti offers ventilated leather seats - but again, you gotta pay extra for this. In the end, even with incentives, Leasing either Infiniti model with Nav & Heated Leather seats ended up with a higher deposit requirement and a higher monthly payment compared to the well equipped Rogue. My biggest complaint about 2017 model is unimpressive seats. Yeah, engine is a bit noisy and not as powerful as Infiniti. But for me these minor issues not worth the extra money. Even though 2020 may represent end of a model series, with all them options AND Zero Gravity seats, it is probably gonna end up being my 2nd Rogue. Thanks for the great review!

While I agree with almost everything the reviewer states, he missed the back seat cupholders. He stated there were none, but mentioned the armrests. The cupholders are IN the armrests! Just fold the armrests down. My husband and I have noticed since we purchased my SLWD, in 2016, that the Rogue is by far more popular than the pricier Murano. We got an excellent deal with everything that is on the Murano, but for less money! The only thing I do not like is the V-4 engine. I previously had a V-6 and loved the get up and go. Everything else is an A+!!!! I think Nissan is making a mistake to discontinue the Rogue. Why would you discontinue your best seller???

I like the Rogue, have rented them a few times. One of my issues with it for long road trips is, it's a little narrower than the CR-V and the Cherokee. For some reason, I am sensitive to that, and it feels like a smaller space to be confined in for a long time. That's the same reason I don't like the Forester, which is even narrower. The only other complaint is it has kind of a cheap feel to the interior, and the engine/performance seems a bit weak.

I liked this review, just a comment. When you are saying things like “it gives you much more ...than it’s rivals “, you should try to give examples of what you mean. In regards to safety features, for example, a CRV will give you lane keep, adaptive cruise, so will the Rav, but they don’t offer 360 camera or rear braking. That’s the stuff you may want to expand upon. Otherwise great review and I like how you give your opinions-such as others overstating the negative attributes of CVTS. Keep up the good work!

I have a 2017 Rogue and love it. I did my homework on the CVT, most of those problems were before 2015. Since then the problems have seemed to be minimal. I love the hidden storage feature, thought that was genius. Also agree the interior is not outdated like some people think for some reason. Agree with the complaint on lack of power outlets, especially in the back, and also would point out that he power outlets do not stay on after the key is turned off, at least in mine. So, you can’t leave your phone in the car when you go in a restaurant or whatever and charge it. Biggest problem I have found is that the vehicle has terrible blind spots in the rear view mirrors, the worst I have ever seen in any vehicle I’ve owned. Blind spot assist is a very important option for the Rogue.

The Rogue's suspension is kind of special. If you push it down from the trunk, it feels very soft and the vehicle sinks immediately with a slight push from your fingers. But when you drive it, you kind of feel it's relatively stiff and doesn't generate a lot of body roll when you make a turn. It's kind of a combination between softness and stiffness to handle different road conditions. Also I hate the usage of the word "droning" by the critics. It's just the engine noise when you rev it up, even from a non-CVT transmission. It happens to every non-EV vehicle when you push the accelerator to the floor.

Well, CVT's have a certain whirling sound when pushed and its not good IMO. My BMW X3 with 7 speed ZF is only a 2.0 liter but does not sound/feel like that. Not even remotely so. Also has 80 HP more. Yes I know it costs ALLOT more but my point is OEMS use CVT because the upfront costs are MUCH lower but the maintenance and repair cost of CVT cost significantly more for the owner. Performance wise the CVT is garbage compared to many of the newer multi geared transmissions. ZF being one of the best IMO. Also many of Nissan's Jatco transmissions have had years of reliability issues with extended warranties and lawsuits and class actions to prove it. Much of that has been fixed but even some of recent models were still having failures. This is why Nissan has a bad reputation with many buyers now. Also know you will need to pay more to service it. Fluid changes are expensive and you need to do it every 30K miles. IMO, its just not worth saving money on the upfront costs. You definitely don't want to be owning one outside a power train warranty. Make sure you get the extended warranty.

“line trace control” is a cool feature, i like how light and nimble it makes the power steering while driving. Makes for a great smooth cruise and it can minimize body roll when cornering using the electronic brake distribution system. With it off, it seems the power steering is stiffer and feels more in touch with the road. EBD is pretty sophisticated and instantly responsive. The EBD in combination with the AWD system makes a very effective and dynamic traction and chassis control formula. Been driving a ‘15 rogue for over a year on dirt roads and new england winters and its a great small SUV 👍

In comparison with my 2023 Subaru forester Premium, my wife's 2020 Nissan Rogue SLawd feels like in the escape pod. It is horrible! The seats were designed for very short people. If you adjust them higher they move forward to an amazing extreme, removing any legroom. I should add, in the interest of fairness, that I'm 6'1" tall, and I'm built like a spider (all legs). I'll concede the luggage arrangement is excellent, the flat-bottom steering wheel helps what ever legroom the car does have! The sunroof is better than my Subaru's sunroof. The window's are like the slits in a tank, adding to the claustrophobic feel of the car. Also, the car's forward-facing mirror is great for parking. I like the placement of the coolant temperature, which is directly in front of the driver, instead of in the information pod on top of the dash.

My dealer sells a gillion of these. They have their own lot with probably over a hundred of them. Most don't care about the CVT I guess. Your right the CVT is best when driven normally. Once you push it the sound/feel is horrible. But honestly the real reason many people don't like the Jatco made CVT is they have had many years of reliability issues. Rogue being one the most affected models. Although I think for the most part, they have fixed allot of the issues. Just do the maintenance and change the fluid often. Like every 30K miles and make sure you have a Nissan dealer do it (it ain't cheap) . Another glaring fact about CVT's is they offer a cheaper upfront cost to the maker but will cost more to maintain and replace for the owner. I personally won't own another CVT.

Hey, I have a 2019 rogue sport SL AWD as of june 28th. It’s November 5 today. 5 months and 4900 miles so far. Here’s what I have to say so far. The rogue sport and the regular rogue are not too far different in the interior department. Same exact interior. Also note I have the Bose sound system. About a month ago, I noticed that while playing music, I would get a rattle in the car. It sounded like a speaker was just vibrating, but it turned out to be the accessory buttons on the top. I had glasses in there, and when I removed it it got quieter, however, it still rattles. I need to push up on it to make it quit rattling which is quite annoying. The sound system itself honestly sounds subpar at full volume. At mid volume, it does well, but when you want to crank out full volume, the rear view mirror shakes to the point where you can’t see through it, the bass is hard to hear, and the highs go missing. It’s more enjoyable to play it moderately or not at all. The drivers assist is very, very useful. I live in nyc where there’s tons of traffic. It’s very easy to use. It’s a little jerky with braking, and at higher speed corners it feels like it’s drunk. It dances from the left to the right side of the lane, but I love it reguardless and can’t see going back to living without it. The traffic assist is very helpful because sometimes the car can see something before you do. The blind spot monitoring beeps at the right times, there’s been maybe 2,3 times where I was about to merge into a lane where I didn’t see someone coming and it alerted me. The brake assist is always on check, the cross traffic alert is cool. If you can, definitely get the 360 cameras too, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used it to get into tight parking spaces. THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR ARE PHENOMENAL. Although it does feel underpowered, the greatest feature to me drivability wise is the brakes. The car handles INSANELY well. Now this may be a rogue sport thing, as it’s quite a bit different, but I’ll say it here anyway since the suspension systems are the same. My girlfriend’s sv has 215mm tires. I have 225s, and the same 19 inch rims. The car has a trick awd system that constantly splits the power from the front wheels to the rear depending on the car’s pitch, if it’s accel/decel arating, the body roll. I’ve taken this car to windy roads quite a few times and it definitely feels underpowered in a straight line, it is superb in the corners. It definitely understeers, but whatever corner I throw at this car it just eats up and doesn’t get upset. It handles very, very, very well. So the cvt. Personally, I love the responsiveness of it. Very quick shifts, if i want it to kick me in the back of the head I downshift into 4000 rpm and floor it. It works very well and I only wish it had paddles. It’s a very good transmission in my opinion. The fuel economy. Now I won’t lie, I tend to drive a bit on the faster side. Combined, my fuel economy is 19.9. My best was 36.6 2 months into ownership. I think I could have done 38, but that’s if you try to do a basic hypermile. (Neutral on downhills, use brakes only when you need them, light accelerations). Eco mode is useless because you end up flooring it more. It makes it unresponsive. It’s not a quick car, but it sure is fun. I unbolted the resonator from the cat and it burbled and even cracked and popped sometimes. It was so obnoxious I loved it. If you’re looking for a great car, get it. This serves as something for you to think about from a person who has it for almost a year now. It has no electrochromic rear view mirrors, the side ones aren’t like that either. They blind you. Water from rain stays on there almost rendering the mirrors useless, and the driver assists don’t work in bad weather like pouring rain. Overall, if there’s a dirt road I swear I have more fun than I thought I ever would. This thing is tail happy with traction off, awd lock and some slippery surfaces.

I have the 2019 Rogue Sport SV Awd and wanted to ask if you had the recall on the front cameras and safety sensors. Mine started glitching before hitting 5k. That a few other minor glitches in the key fob and the radio freezing between FM and CarPlay. Oh not sure if you mentioned but in the system you can step up the steering from normal to sport steering. I found that putting the steering into sport mode steps it up a touch. As to mpg, mine varies but so far I’ve been averaging 29.6 on occasion the mileage history bounces up to 40 rivaling what RAV4 gets to. But overall it’s a better upgrade from a Juke S though I will miss that turbo 6.
@Salvaba
@Salvaba 4 жыл бұрын
xanth987 I wasn’t aware of the recall on them. So far my front camera is working well and without issues, and I didn’t come in for those recalls. I personally don’t notice any changes in steering in that sport setting. It doesn’t seem to get heavier to me but I also came from driving an RX350 with much heavier hydraulic steering, so maybe There is a slight difference I believe you. My guess is you have the car in long distance drives like on the highway usually, and that’s some damn good mpg. I definitely have issues connecting to CarPlay. Many, many times. While I drive, It just stops playing audio, sometimes it just fully disconnects. A few times I even had to pull over and reset the infotainment to get it to connect to my phone. It tends to go to fm by itself sometimes for whatever reason which is super annoying.
@xanth987
@xanth987 4 жыл бұрын
Salie Vabayer yeah I had mine in the repair for a week after taking it in on an oil change. It seems there was problems with front camera and lane departure laser stuff. I found that due to front emergency brake warning sensor flashing every now and then while driving at night on empty roads. And just today it appears another recall is out on the backup camera programming so you may see it. But yeah most of my driving is usually downhill and freeway driving at nights when freeway traffic is nonexistent. As to CarPlay freezing, I found the easiest way to fix the problem is not plug in the phone before starting the engine. Rather start the engine, let the radio stay on fm or satellite for about 30 sec while you are warming up the engine then plug the phone in before dropping it into drive. So far that has cut down on the freezing of the screen when swapping back and forth especially if you also have a cd in the player and satellite radio

You forgot to point out that the all-around camera also features a front camera while in drive at slow speeds, which is great for parking, or pulling into a garage. Also, pressing the Camera button toggles the right camera to a down-view so you can see the curb while parking.

Anyway, I am not an American or Canadian, but to say that Nissan should merge with Honda so that Nissan would change its name back to Datsun at the same time Nissan/Datsun too would become great again. But, prior to that, Honda would forge a tieup with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries (where the Kawasaki bike company is part of it), and even India's Mahindra & Mahindra (which makes cars in a cheaper method) as well, as India's cost of labour is inexpensive than the rest of Europe, UK and Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, and NZ. (especially both Honda and Nissan/Datsun deeply struggle in the Indian market as India preferred to overtake China as a workshop for the rest of the globe) Thus, when Honda already forged engineering deals with Kawasaki and Mahindra, therefore Honda, so do Kawasaki (unless when Honda buys Kawasaki Heavy Industries), would take over Nissan. And in the end, Acura and Infiniti would cease to exist. Mitsubishi Motors on the other hand, would merge with utility vehicle expert Isuzu instead... (sorry for the words)
