I had to choose between this one and the limited edition Spinosaurus and I must say I’m happy I went for the Spinosaurus. Looks great tho but the stance ruined it enough for me and I watched your video on the Spinosaurus and you convinced me to go for the Spinosaurus + the Spinosaurus was the last one at that store but great review as always

I own all carnivorous Papo dinosaurs and I'm definitely getting this, it's an action pose not like the typical walking theropod we usually get, I honestly don't believe they're trying to retro build this one to look like a classic old school style dinosaur, it's obviously an action pose and I can't wait to get it!!

Very true, its a very dynamic pose, and no reason why big theorpods couldn't stand like this, and I can imagine two big males assuming this pose when contesting for mates, much like real monitor lizards also do.

Actually, this pose might actually look good as a diorama where the Giganotosaurus is battle ing the Acrocanthosaurus they released a while back, cause the pose of that figure matches.

I love this model. When you look at it from his left side it looks just like the old school 'meateater'. I dont care about the acuracy...its a toy, its a monster, it looks menacing, like Godzilla 😄 or a monster from a movie. Almost every manufacturer does gigantic flesheaters in very similar poses. For me this is realy boring. They all look the same. Papo is not afraid of doing something diferent, i like that. The sculpt and paintwork is 1A!!! And it is A TOY not a scientific model. Pose also great for a diorama. Definitely getting it! Love your reviews.👍

I just hate the pose it's mostly disappointing because so many people me included really wanted a papo Giganotosaurus and it took a long long time. When we finally got it.... Ehhhh. The figure is detailed and looks great but the pose just ruins it for me. I feel the paint scheme is to simular to the brown papo rex also. Hopefully Papo eventually release a Giga in a similar pose to the running rex. Can almost guarantee more people will be interested then.

That's about as dumb as saying a Grizzly Bear rearing up and standing erect on its hind legs isn't "proper" either. Even monitor lizards can do this and no reason why big theropods couldn't and wouldn't do it either, though it is probable the tail itself couldn't bend that tightly, but this can be remedied with a repose with hot water.

@@danpeterson114 monitors are light as hell and bears have a different bone structure so that is why they achieve it and even then they don't stay in that pose for a long time if you like it it is fine but don't spread misinformation about it being possible cause a 7 ton animal couldn't bend its tail like that or support itself on it cause it would break additionally its body relative to its legs could not achieve this angle after all the model has other inaccuracies too many people hate it with their own right

@@theacro3472 As I previously stated, the pose is fine if the tail is merely straightened a bit with hot water. It is ridiculous to presume that theropods of every weight class could not assume a tripod stance to raise its head as high as possible for short amounts of time, as even such unlikely creatures as thick boned monitor lizards are able to due. Theropods, being built much like birds, would be able to assume this stance all the easier. If bears were extinct, there would probably be people today claiming they couldn't stand high on their hind legs either!

@@theacro3472 Fossil theropod tracks PROVE they assume the tripod position from time to time while walking, probably to get a better, higher view of their environment, whether in search of potential prey or possible, larger predators. This is proven by the marks of the tail, that are shown in the mud, turned to stone after millions of years. Monitor lizards have the same kind of stiff tail as theropods, but it still has enough flexibility to allow the lizard to assume the "tripod" position. You simply simply do not know enough about reptilian physiology to understand these things.

This isn't supposed to be a standard gait, it's supposed to be rearing up to attack or defend itself. You can tell this by the position of the arms, similar to a bird squaring off against an opponent.

I remember being annoyed by the pose in the Papo Acrocanthosaurus until I saw it in the shelf. Same with the Therizinosaurus, that can be facing this Giganotosaurus in a very dramatic scene.

This Giganotosaurus in Stance actually reminds me of a picture on a cover of a book in my childhood it wads A Giganotosaurus chasing a Hypsilophodon dinosaur

Heck yeah, this is a must have imo.. I got all kinds of dino figures standing there in the exact same boring pose, designed to viewed from the side, but you can view this guy " even from the back" & it looks unique & interesting. Oh, did I mention meat eating dinos more than likely did more than just casually stand around with thier toothy mouths open? The scientific accuracy of this dino is 2nd to none!

if you think the *accuracy* of this *Papo* figure is second to none I think you're gonna have to rethink what the definition of accuracy is there can be dynamic poses in dinosaur figures, but they'd have to shatter their hips and snap tail bones to bend this way

Nope! Thier bones are hollow,& possibly flexible like birds. This pose is spot on, the scenario a charging Triceratops a second away from horns to skin contact ;)@@kwaziness

Hello, I agree. Just the usual static pose does get boring. It's meant to be together with another reacting to an attack. Pair it with the Pentoceratops. You will be pleasantly surprised!!

Exactly, or you can go all out like when I pick up this guy, pair it with my best "to scale" Triceratops, mark 2 spots on the Gigantosaurs belly where the horns touch, drill 2 small holes there , then finally add red paint oozing out of the holes, as well as the tips of the horns & BOOM! coolest diorama ever lol. Hell, I may wind up getting a small plack made for it & call it either "Moment of impact" or "It was at this moment, the mighty Gigantosaurs knew he f**ked up" :)@@tmanbloke6535

@@ronniepatterson2827 theropod tails were meant for balance, not being bent in half. this means stiff muscles and bones being held in place. if this were accurate then there would be more paleoart of 40+ foot long theropods doing somersaults and pirouettes to catch their prey.

No, it is just like bears. Most of the time they walk on four feet, but sometimes stand high on their hind legs. No reason why theropod dinosaurs wouldn't occasionally do the same thing. Kudos to Papo for choosing to be different and authentic at the same time.

With all due respect...it´s horrible. No matter how well it´s very sculpted or paint job. Deserve it to be extincted. What a lazy or lack of imagination or inovation. In a diorama it would look like to be dancing before Therizinosaurus, papo of course. It´s such awful as Acrocanthosaurus Schleich. Excuse me. Good review!! Greetings.
