I'm in awe at polaris owners lol. Very determined bunch to keep thier machines running no matter how many times they fall apart. The mid 90s and then the early 2000s was the final straw for me. Sub par parts and sub par engineers
@SomewhatHaggard2 жыл бұрын
I get it, there’s definitely design flaws on this machine but other than that we’ve had good luck with Polaris. I don’t really pick favorites with brands, I’ll probably find a way to break anything.
@rkramer56299 ай бұрын
Our group has machines of every stripe and we always end up doing repairs on the trail, no matter the machine. I’ve worked on all of them and my RZR is easily the easiest and least expensive one to work on. Like working on an old school square body pickup truck vs the crazy shit being produced these days…

Unless you want to go through all this again , replace all the axles with Rhino 2.0. My machine did the same thing, axles slammed into wheel bearings breaking them. Then the broken pieces destroy the knuckle and hub. The Rhino 2.0 axles have float built into them to prevent this. This was not an issue until i got bigger tires, which increased the loading on the axles.
@rkramer56299 ай бұрын
Hahahaha I feel the pain. Was just at Windrock. On the way back to camp, on the last day, front bearing disintegrated on the connector trail. Looks almost exactly like this one. Bought a used hub off eBay (parted out machine), hoping it isn’t shit. My knuckle isn’t as bad as this one though, steel v aluminum FTW! hoping to save it, idk yet. Knuckle looks fine but can’t get the outer race out, about to go at it with a hacksaw… PS I’m laughing because we leave for MOAB in…. 3 weeks………. 😂

What is your opinion on greasing wheel bearings ? Do you do it ? How often ? Thanks
@SomewhatHaggard Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I lean one way or the other and when you research you can find a lot of arguments both ways. Personally we don’t grease. Both pro xps are running the hd bearings now and have done well. I’m thinking I will throw a few pumps in them this winter and see what happens.
@thisisdudewhoru2 жыл бұрын
Well you aren’t alone. Taking my hubs off my pro xp4 to do portals. My driver rear axle is also seized into the hub. I think passenger side may be, from what I’ve learned heat is needed because they’ve used green loctite on the splines. I’ve got two RCV axles coming for the rear today. Not putting loctite on my portals lol. It actually calls for grease instead. Gonna have a shop press out the axles from the hubs. I’ll keep the passenger side for a spare
@SomewhatHaggard2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it turned into a pain in the ass. The outer races on the aluminum knuckles all get green loctite, which I did again. On the splines I’ve been using grease. I think the only reason the passenger side rear wasn’t seized like that is because I’ve recently had it apart twice to change the axle seal.

Can you give an update on how those Polaris bearings are holding up after a year?
@SomewhatHaggard11 ай бұрын
Sure! They’re still going, haven’t had any issues yet! I never even added grease. I will be greasing them this winter though.
@stephenscott98372 жыл бұрын
Yikes man, you have great patience I would be spitting fire at all those issues. Good luck on your trip but you need those fixes for windrock.

There was definitely some off camera melt downs, but I was pretty determined to get it ready for windrock.

You should use anti seize on the hubs to the bearings as well as the axles into the front diff and transmission save you from headaches when u have to tear it apart next time...
@SomewhatHaggard2 жыл бұрын
I’ve used anti seize in the past, I’ve had better luck with grease

I use the copper kind seems to work the best for me
@SomewhatHaggard2 жыл бұрын
That’s what I used seemed to work ok on the fronts. The passenger rear gave me some issues so the last time I changed to axle seal I tried grease. Everything on the passenger side slid right apart. I’m not sure how it will last over longer period of time but we’ll see!

I have the 2021 pro ultimate like dudes n I have almost 600 miles on mine and have had none of those problems, in fact this is my 4 rzr and never had those kind of issues wow , trade your machine in and get a Pro R and be done with it lol 😂

Thanks, I hope so too! I think part of it is the different hubs on the 21 and up. Dude’s got over 1000 miles and has had zero bearing issues. Lol with the pro r….. Steph would kill me and we live near Wisconsin and they have a 64 inch width limit that’s why we all have 64’s.

@@SomewhatHaggard well there’s nothing wrong with 64 inch machines really 69 wide , I m out in Las Vegas I m not aware of any limits out here , some of the trails are tight n kinda glad I m on a 64 , a lot of are riding friends turbo s n the 72 can ams n I know they handle better but super tight on the trials good for dunes , man my wife would kill me if I traded my bike for a Pro R 😂😂 with all mine cost and all what I have put into it already , keep telling her it’s a more safer machine baby and it will be the last one 😂😂
