The carabiners are Petzl Ange? What is your experience with saltwater/sand and corrosion under the black plastic hoods that sit at the bottom of the gates? Is a regular rinse in fresh water sufficient or anything specific necessary?

Hi Patrick, yes fresh water wash after each use will keep them working well.
