Thank you for making this! Headed out there next week and now I've got a better idea of what to expect. Can't wait!

Good deal! I'm heading there myself at the end of the month with an as-yet-unplanned riding agenda so let me know if you find any cool single track in the area.

Now you know why we call them the 'Rocky Mountains'... Been riding Taylor for 3 decades going back to when the fun factor outweighed the work involved.

Just got back from Colorado a month ago, Gunnison was a great place to stay and we were able to ride a number of spots over a two week period including a few days Taylor Park, Pitkin and Cement Creek. Also hit the Alpine Loop in Lake City because we had a side by side with us a few days. Hit Hartmann Rocks too, lots of desert riding to be had there. Enjoyed your vids, I have a few myself at Taylor but I hope to go back and hit some of those you guys did next year. If you ever need another old guy to round out your crew hit me up although my starting point is in South Carolina.

Kevin, ironically I too just got back yesterday from Colorado. I did the Alpine Loop for the first time in Jeeps on Sunday, the 22nd, and then again on bikes on the 26th. Suffice it to say that it was way more fun on the bikes. Rode some new trails including Williams Pass which is rarely ever open, and it was tough. Videos to come. And we ran into several groups from West Virginia so South Carolina isn't that much further.

Surprised more folks in your group don’t ride 300s. That seems to be the norm out here for singletrack
@singletrackscott10533 ай бұрын
I purchased a 300 2-stroke two years ago (300 XC-W TPI). I enjoyed it, but for the CO terrain, I personally feel that the 350 4-stroke is the better bike (350 XCF-W). And I'm 100% certain that some in my own group will disagree. I didn't grow up riding 2-strokes. The 4-stroke just has more low-end, immediate torque which is handy when riding slow, technical terrain. I'm going to give the 300 2-stroke another go this year but it will either become my back-up bike or I'll sell it for another 4-stroke. We shall see.

Sounds like you guys have ridden quite a bit up there. We recently went and only found hard single track that was more than our skill level. What are some of the easier to intermediate trails up there?
@singletrackscott10532 жыл бұрын
What single track did you find that was more than you felt you could handle? That'll probably make it easier for me to answer your question.

some awesome videos. have you done Timberline Trail in the Taylor Park area?
@singletrackscott10532 жыл бұрын
Parts of it, yes. It's a very tough trail.

@@singletrackscott1053 Timberline is fun, I felt Star Trail was a bit more technical but equally as fun. I would pretty much try any trail out there. I mostly ride single track in Central Texas, rocks, without the elevation.
@singletrackscott1053 Жыл бұрын
@@jasonbehr7144 I rode Star last year with a group where I played the role of sweeper (riding last, making sure we didn't lose anyone) and we had one guy in the group without much experience on a dual-sport who rode slowly; the kind of slow that actually hurts you in terms of endurance. I'd love to re-ride Star without that issue.

Why were you guys riding the "Closed for restoration" hill? That's how we lose access to our trails.
@singletrackscott1053 Жыл бұрын
"Closed for Restoration" trails are usually barricaded with rocks and trees, and are marked as such. To my knowledge, we rode no such trails (nor would we). Can you provide a timestamp of this video where you contend we rode such a trail?

Did you need to be street legal to get to Aspen or any cross town riding here? I'm planning a trip for the end of June!
@singletrackscott10532 жыл бұрын
I think the legally correct answer is yes, you should be plated, but my experience has been that if you aren't riding wheelies down main street and are just riding to a restaurant or to get gas and you're being considerate and obeying traffic laws, you get left alone.
