Great information, thanks! I just bought a home this January here in North Texas and I believe the lawn hasn't been treated for weeds with anything during the winter. These homes are a little over a year and a half old, with nothing but fields here before. My question is how/what would I use for the pockets of weeds and clovers that seem to be all over the yard already? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all your lawn care videos and being so informative. Talking to all my friends about lawn care that I learned from you they think I'm a lawn care genius but I refer them to you and your videos. I have a issue I'm facing. I live in Burlington, NC. A transition zone. We have mainly a tall rescue yard here but my neighbors planted Bermuda grass heavy and it's steadily moving into our yard. How can I combat that and choke out the Bermuda grass? I bought some midnight Kentucky bluegrass seed hoping since it has rhizomes that and over seeding regularly could choke it out and dominate. What's your input on this situation?

Couple guys on one of the lawn care forums were talking about systemic kill on Bermuda. Meaning they pull up a length of Bermuda rhizome/stolon (without detatching it) and then keeping the pulled up portion dipped in a closed jar of glyphosate for a few days. The glyphosate would travel through all it's connections killing the Bermuda only and not the st. Aug. One guy says he used to do it all the time. The other guy tried it, but no one's heard back from him. Not sure if that's a bad sign or not, lol.

Great video LCN. I put down Zenith Zoysia just a touch south of Richmond, VA last year and this was one of the best videos I've seen geared towards Zoysia. I'd like to have seen more included on how much of what fertilizer you use and how frequently you apply. My soil test is going to be different, but I figure you are spoon feeding and that is good and I'm up for the work for a nice lawn. Oddly enough, the info from those two sites gave me almost the exact same day as yours for 12.5 hours of sunlight and soil temps. Although this year, I think my grass started greening up about two weeks ahead of that date.

I cut my zoysia today for the first time here in Nj. Warm day today, cut it at 3inchs. Temperature will drop back down. I cut my grass in the summer once a week at a setting of 5 because it gets hot and dry here in July and august. I don’t have much of thatch problem. In The spring I keep it at 3. It grows way too fast and dense for me to keep it at 2

One question: I'm right near Marietta, GA and I've noticed with the heat & spring rains coming in I have inherited a %&$#-ton of bamboo from my pesky neighbors yards. What's my play here? Should I roll on with prodiamine in the back yard and dig up on the bamboo while trying to keep going on my turf plan or do I need to excavate the whole backyard and plan to reseed?

Good evening, first time caller.... :) I'm taking over my lawn care since I was tired of paying $4000/yr to the lawn maint company. I have Zoysia and you mention the low cutting. The guys we had servicing the lawn have let it grow very long, they were bagging the clippings each week, but it is very thick in some places and not in others. If I try to lower the mower, it scalps it. Should I lower and scalp it to get it right and maybe do a de-thatch on it? I have the Ego mower and is currently set to 3 in order to not scalp, but 2 works for most of the area without scalping. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey Allen, looking for some advice….I’m looking to get a new lawn and I’m just trying to figure out what my best option would be. I live in SWFL and I’m wanting to get a lawn that mimics northern grasses. Something that’s soft on the feet and comfortable to walk on like Bermuda or zoysia. Issue is, I have quite a lot of shade. I was thinking Geo Zoysia would probably be my best bet but the availability of it seems to be something of an issue and I’ve heard it can get pretty thatchy awfully quick. Any advice on what I should get? Is there any way I can get something that checks all the boxes? Lol

If you start going low (2") to encourage the bermuda and zoysia, they will choke out the fescue over time. Fescue may come in harder in spring and fall but over time it will fade.

I live in TN with Bermuda lawn. Does it make sense to scalp first then put down prodiamine immediately after? Maybe first week or two in March. I assume scalping after might interfere with the preemergent barrier created

Also in TN w/ a Bermuda lawn, I'd think it would depend on how much thatch you have underneath. If you have a thatch problem, I'd scalp and dethatch before putting down pre-emergent for better soil contact.

Tommy Harville thanks mate. I don’t think I have a bad thatch problem. Probably a healthy amount. But I don’t think the lawn has ever been scalped (moved in last fall). It’s overgrown and the first couple inches were dry and dead. So I want to scalp and keep mowed low. I too thought scalping before preemergent app is best to reach the soil better 👍

Remember scalping also helps bermuda green up faster. Getting the grass to quit shadowing the sun from your ground will make soil temperature go up faster

I came here to hear him say 🗣📢"THROW ER' DOWN!!"🤣🤣 On a serious note... I paid attention to you saying don't push [heavy nitro] too early, a brief cold-snap could cause problems. The problem is, I found this video literally after I just did a HEAVY nitro push [today] & the forecast is calling for a low of 37° 4days from now 🤦‍♂️ That's what I get for THROWING ER' DOWN & not asking Mother Nature for permission. 🤷‍♂️

The Lawn Care Nut thanks 2 part question lol do You recommend Jhonatan greens blk beauty ultra up here in Danbury ct for over seeding ? And is lesco 0-0-7 acelepryn a good grub fert?

@Thelawncarenut 4 жыл бұрын
@@CesarMartinez-tp4bx I like Pete from GCI turf's seed the best, hands down, best value and quality you can get. I have not used acelepryn is the same active ingredient as Scotts GrubEx so get whatever one is cheaper. If you have to buy the Lesco at a Site One store, I recommend against giving them your money. They do not care about DIYers.

The Lawn Care Nut which one would you recommend/use? I didn’t want to go into my local box store HDepot or Lowe’s, figured site one is considered commercial grade. I looked at merit but it can’t be shipped to me. 😔
