It’s funny that we start on teals which are the hardest to hit! Haha they’re so fast. Only gets easier with big fat mallards

@@jeray16042 agree about the speed but the mallards usually take more to work, especially the further south you are. They've heard every call, seen every spread, seen a million spinning wings or pulsating dekes. Educated by November, less long January. Teal on the other hand, when they are in the area it takes a few whistles, dozen dekes, and a spinning wing mojo.

Hey guys I remember meeting Phil in Chico, ca. He signed my poster of him and miss Vegas. I think that was name. But we as kids were duck commanders of every sense of the name and it made me the man I am. I thank you Phil Robertson for the guidance!

South dakota here . No migration or cold yet . Must be shooting local ducks . Good news for you down south guys . It looks like a good year up here with high water still sticking around. Many many puddles / sloughs really helped the ducks this year . You guys need to get on the metal detecting show . Duck boys have a massive following and we want new material . Si was right. We (SW La. rice farmer). We had the teal, in impressive numbers. Sitting on covered levee's with a dozen decoys and a dove robo, the secret is shoot early. If you wait, your pattern will miss behind. And nearly impossible, pick out one bird! If you flock shoot you'll miss. Expect to be "buzzed" by teal flying on the deck. As you sit in the mosquitoes pick your ducks and enjoy the fun. Save the hearts and gizzards. Brown the birds in a black cast iron pot and pot roast in onions and stuff. Make a pot of rice and dark gravy with the drippings. Repeat this process everyday of the early teal season. Enjoy those roasted teal and share them with old people who can't hunt anymore, but love the taste of duck.

Some days are magical and the ducks don't quit flying if you are on what they call the "X". It all depends, if you are on public or private. Majority of public lands in Arkansas end hunting at noon. In Tennessee it's 3:00. Other places are different. Private land it's at sunset. Then some private clubs have rules of certain cutoff times to let the ducks rest and not shoot out the holes/woods. There are times you limit out in minutes. There are times you limit out the last minute. There are days you don't fire a shot. All depends on different conditions and variables.

Thank God for Teal season! (Big duck seasons in Louisiana have seen better years.) It's sad to say, but we are no longer the "Sportsman's Paradise." For many reasons big duck patterns have changed. We held 125 acres of water from 450 acres of draining Crawfish pond water. (dropping the water level makes the momma crawfish bury down with her eggs.) Dry weather made our irrigated fields the only game in town. Hurricane Ida nudged marsh Teal west into our prairie rice fields and crawfish ponds. We had an above average Teal season. Brown and Pot roast 3 teal at 350 in the oven. Make a gravy from the bird fat and onion browning's. Eat two of them over Louisiana Long Grain rice. Eat the 3rd one for supper. Suck all the bones then throw them out for the barn cats. Live life to it's top. Hunt everyday of teal season, even if its slow. Pick your ducks as you sit and think about your breathing. You are the most lucky of 109B humans who were born and died and will die. Go by yourself or take your grandkids. Ignore the mosquitoes. They are part of life; Louisiana.
