Atrac, which is called MTS in the newer Toyotas. MTS is a variable ATRAC that allows you to adjust the amount of slip allowed before intervention. For instance in mud you wouldn't want super early brake intervention because a spinning wheel is good where as on rock you would.

Try it again with studded tires and lock the rear diff. Also, slow down when it gets rough! Tires are the only thing that create contact traction. Clearance is great but you can plow through snow with a FWD car on studded winter tires and a slow rate of speed. You might turn your front clip into a snow plow but it will work. You can have a car with all lockers, a center diff lock, be on street tires (G63 AMG) and not make it that far. Contact contact contact.

The only thing (i can respect and understand why) is that, when you guys get stuck slipping or sliding, you go to "lets go as slow as possible and see if that will fix it" and most of the time, that will get you out of trouble. But i think at the end, instead of just backing down the mountain, you should have backed down a few feet to where you had grip, turned off TCS and just hammered down and see if it would get through that rough section.

@mechmat123454 жыл бұрын
Because they did actually do some updates in 2020 like improved safety tech, updated infotainment, and push button start/keyless entry on some models. Resale value is also spectacular, meaning you won't save much buying a late model used version if you have a higher interest rate (which is common in new vs used financing). Carvana literally has a 2018 TRD Off Road model right now and they are charging $150 MORE than the original window sticker price.

You’re better off getting The off road edition. If you go onto Toy Tec .com you can get KING SHOCKS they are adjustable or even Fox has them too. You get a lot more bang for your buck plus your getting a 3 inch lift for better clearance. The roof rack is crap so you’re better off not getting a Front Runner roof rack or any other top brand. It has no linear weight distribution for anything heavy. With the savings of that money you can probably add a front bumper with winch and lights . Also you can get a full skid plates which they do not offer. Oh yea the crawl control is good but I rather install a front locker. Do the research first but if you got money to piss away kudos for you!

Love this! I was thinking of getting a 2020 Subaru Forester Sport and putting some Method wheels on it to make it look more manly (not Soccer mom SUV) but damn this is a sexy bad ass looking machine. It's expensive but I look at it as an investment, the resale value it's up the roof. An used 2013 TRD PRO goes for 40k now in days.. if you can afford it go for it, you will stand out from all those Wranglers.

We that love the 4runner..LOVE it the way it is.We that buy and continue to buy over and over...or every 20 yrs or so ,as they last that long, simply do not care about fuel mileage or what yall talking heads refere to as "outdated" headlights or 6 plus gears and all the "new fad.ish" a.k.a. sissy options.We love the fact that it is a TRUCK .It,s sickening to us that yall want to press Toyota to make it a highlander or patriot clone .We that buy and love simply do not care about fuel mileage. We love Tough & Durable. Thank you.:)

Nice video. Glad Karleena got a chance to drive! Did you ever test how the Subaru Forester XMode does in these same conditions deep snow? AWD vs 4WD? Would it have made any difference using winter/snow tires/chains?

They did one with the Subaru Forester with Dual X-Mode in snow and towed a Mazda CX-9 in the snow with the Forester, but was not this same road, I don't think.

That's sad. I've owned 2x CJ-5s, and a CJ-7, and never came close to getting stuck in snow, even when the snow was up to the doors. But then again, the tires bigger and badder on one of the CJ-5s. The CJ-7 (1980) was all stock.
