How comfortable are the seats in the Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 compared to the Avalon?
@texan9034 жыл бұрын
Because of the relative value of the Avalon over the ES, I think the Avalon will be my next car. They're so dependable that buyers tend to keep these well beyond 200k and still trouble free. Today I saw a 2000 Avalon and it was quiet even now and the body in good shape. That example is why Avalons do not sell today; they are literally too reliable and most people who buy them tend to keep them until they fall apart, which is almost never. With the demographic Toyota targets this car with, the Avalon often outlasts the owner. Getting to scoop one up before Toyota decides to pull them off the market is incentive to try to pay off the Altima I have, early.

I agree. Most people who drive suv's and crossovers have no actual need for them, other than to satisfy a level of insecurity or just fit in with everyone else. Manufacturers have now saturated the market with these useless wastes of space. Most suv's and crossovers can't tackle an off road course if there lives depended on it. Hey JAX AUTO So ive been thinking about getting an avalon limited, but i gotta ask and really want to know, how is the torque and the bottom end tourqe? I use to own a 96 chevy pickup with a 5.0 v8 with the catalytic converter cut out, that truck got me to work and home on time everytime doing the speed limit, never had to worry about having to leave ealier so i can get to work on time doing the speed limit bearly had to press the gas pedal to get moving and was going pretty quick for the speed limit and i really miss that. Right now i have a toyota camry 4 cylinder and it is SLOW if im on the interstate i drive 79 to get to work on time everytime. is this avalon doing the speed limit as quick as that old rotton pos truck? not super high rpms all the time, just super nice speed limit cruising getting to work on time everytime. Quick but doing the speed limit down the road not the slowest thing possible, getting passed by everything feeling like a hazard in a 5 lane interstate?

I'm actually looking at the Camry XSE V6 or the Avalon XSE V6. I wish I could drive both but they are too far away from me. I'm looking for interior quality and ride comfort. The faster Camry does seem appealing and it seems to maybe have a little more options on it than the Avalon but the Avalon seem more luxurious still and I'm thinking maybe the ride quality is better? What do you think?
@jax10794 жыл бұрын
Well, as you can see in my Camry review, the V6 is very entertaining, but that being said, it’s not like the Avalon is slow. (The Camry is likely geared a bit shorter to enhance the acceleration in the first few gears.) I’m not going to pretend that the Camry is a great driver’s car, though. (As I said in the review, I’d still take an Accord over a Camry any day of the week.) Because of that, I’d probably take the Avalon. It has a nicer interior, a bit more space, isn’t appreciably slower, and is much better looking in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

I have never fit the demographics for any of the cars I’ve owned LOL! My friends / family always have laughed at me for driving “sedans”, but I like 4 door cars. My Avalon rides like a dream and it will FLY! The major change I like in the new model are the new climate control buttons/panel (even though, as you said, they feel cheap). My ‘16 Avalon has those horrific “smooth” buttons that are impossible to see or navigate when driving w/o having to take my eyes off the road. That panel is awful. That’s my only gripe about the car. Great review, JAX. Especially for a guy who had been questioning whether or not to go the SUV route instead. I think you really addressed my dilemma. My only real dislike is how low you sit in the Avalon, but I can deal with it- as a guy who will buy this for retirement long distance travel with my wife. Overall, the Avalon appears to be a steal at this price and I like the Limited version the most. Thanks.

A kind of been there/done that for me. Last year I had a 2007 vic. Only 80,000 miles. Then things started failing...almost everything from time to time, nickel, diming me to death. I had enough. Bought a used 2017 Avalon Limited, well-maintained. Phew.

Two years ago I rented a Chevy Malibu. After a couple of minutes with the car something was going wrong with the Stop& Start system. I returned the Malibu and all they had left was a GMC Denali Yukon. At the time my current personal car was a 2010 Impala which was a large size. Wrong! That Denali was B@#% move out my way at every stop light. I even had pulled up to a Toyota Landcruiser and still that Yukon was bigger. It was like a Shaq over all cars and SUVs Damn never again I felt like I was the T-Rex and all Corollas, Focus and Civics were trying to get out my way once I pulled up behind them😄. Anyway I currently now own a 2018 Camry and love it. But I think if I decide not to get a preowned Lexus GS. Then the Avalon will be next on my list. Its really a elegant looking car that doesn't really scream attention.

JAX, I have the 2020 Avalon XLE basically the Avalon is the sister of the Lexus with the Lexus you're paying for the name. The Avalon you don't find the similarities between the old models Toyota did a marvelous job in updating and adding more style and aggression to the Avalon.

"6 and a half feet tall" That is a good change! I am so sick of reviewers who are 5'8 and 150 review the seat room in a compact car and call it midsize and say plenty of room. I'm 6'2 330 myself and was considering a Venza. You got me at the why would I have to sit high up? I have changed my view of this car because if you like how it drives it can't possibly drive like my dad's 2000 Buick LeSabre although they are similar size. I didn't know this color is greenish-gray either I always thought it was a blue. I dig it with the brown leather.
@jax10794 жыл бұрын
I do think the Venza class of "barely" SUVs will end up being where most people go since they offer more of the benefits of both worlds; however, if you don't need the height of an SUV, the Avalon will drive even better and is actually a genuine bargain. The Highlander Hybrid I tested a few weeks ago was fantastic and fully loaded, but it was north of $50k, which is pretty steep. The Avalon can be similarly equipped for almost $10k less, and it looks a lot better in my opinion, too! Thanks so much for watching!

@@jax1079 I pulled the trigger on one of the last 2020 limited hybrid and I must say you were 100% correct this is the nicest sedan I've ever drove. The cabin is roomy and the trunk deep. No need for a huge crossover and I get 43 mpg.

The title grabbed me because I’m considering this or the Venza. However, given that you’re comparing this to an SUV, it would’ve been extremely helpful to see how much trunk space there is in this car. That’s the biggest factor for me. A 10-second clip showing the trunk would’ve been ideal.

Excellent review, thanks. Laughed at the comments about 90s American sedans so true. GM will soon join Ford in phasing out sedans. Really wonder how much longer Toyota will produce the Avalon; as noted below you can haggle over the price (the new TRD versions look goofy imho). Need to replace a leased 19 Malibu (not a bad car) and I will try the Avalon. Wife's made in Japan RAV4 is a great vehicle.

Thanks for this video - just found it. I owned a 93 Mercury Marquis - LOL -- yes, man did that car suck. The ride was horrific, the inside plastic panels rattled like crazy, the only advantage it had was easy to service. FYI...I rented an OLDER Toyota Avalon...back in the early 2000s....and I actually liked it. I have a 2012 Audi A6 super-6 and love love love that car, even w/100k miles but if I were in the market for an upgrade the Avalon would be right up there.

There wouldn't really be much benefit, and the 8 speed auto is what allows the Avalon to top 30mpg on the highway. It would be difficult for it to get there with only six gears.

2007 Lincoln town car owner here 😉 You talking about comfort ride and road trips !!!! Lincoln Makes the Avalon speechless. 400. 000 thousands miles A few dollars i spend on maintenance. Besides that regular maintenance requires. I care less about technology that cars have nowadays. Back then brand new lincoln cost 10k less than the Avalon. It's sad they don't make town car anymore. After owning this car for more than 14 years. My next option will be either Avalon or similar Lexus.

Thanks for watching! It’s a shame that Lincoln has killed off both the Town Car and Continental, which I think could have a market with correct advertising and PR, but such is life. I think the new Avalon will suit your needs, but the Lexus ES likely rides even better.
