That is toyota`s problem now, the CH-R hybird and the auris hybrid (this corolla`s predecessor for the EU market, US got the auris as the "scion iM" and Corolla iM, but not as a hybrid) already outsold the prius in 2013 when it came out. Toyota is gonna have to do some drastic to keep the prius a seller, i got a 2011 prius, and we also got a 2013 auris TS hybrid, 2016 Auris TS hybrid. And i wont get another prius when the auris exists, never... The prius used to be the most "technological advanced" car from toyota, the auris took over that spot in 2016 with the face lift. The prius is no longer the most techy car from toyota, the auris is (was as of 2019), so the current prius makes no sense, there has been leaked pics of a prius crossover driving around on a test track, its made of the Lexus RX300h (gyazo.com/ccc9924435c23c686d313d302db8461b), its obviously the 2016 prius front on the RX300h, what i believe (that it is a thread about on www.priuschat.com) is that the prius is changing shape to a crossover. Atleast the prius V, it just makes sense, since SUV`s and crossovers have started to sell so insanely good now. With the prius V turning into a crossover, the regular prius would have to turn into an EV , prius was the first hybrid mass produced, it started the hybrid era. It should be the car to lead toyota into the EV era.

I'm sure the car is better overall. but Toyota's new TNGA platform seems to take A LOT of interior space from the sedans. The Corolla, Camry, even the Lexus LS, are all noticeably smaller inside, far less roomy, than the vehicles they replace. Maybe the structure is much better reinforced, but you will notice the difference sitting inside that you lose a lot of extra space.
@LexVVTiS3005 жыл бұрын
That's great! Sedans have been growing since their popularity in the 90s caused them to become the "all-in-one" standard for everyday vehicles. But how much bigger can they get? The fact is ppl aren't buying sedans for the same reasons anymore. Toyota understands this and instead of killing their sedans they're sending them back to their roots of being low, compact, sports vehicles. That's why the new LS is nothing what it once was- The new G90 is based on the old LS fundamentals and it sells about 50-100/month! Of course Being Toyota, journalists would rather criticize and remain ignorant to their strategy like Toyota accidentally "messed up" until others follow suite and credit will be given to the other brands. But I said it here first, Bravo 👏 Toyota!!!

I wish Toyota would offer the 2.0l engine standard and upgrade the XSE to the 203hp 2.5l engine offered in the Camry.

Then the corolla won't be a corolla anymore. Can't treat everything like a sports car. Some people just want a cheap car to get from A to B
@lanfan14645 жыл бұрын
You are asking too much for a Corolla. I never understood why people would buy the SE and XSE anyway. At that price, you go for the Camry. 1.8L is too slow on American streets. 2.0L would be enough. You don't want high torque on CVTs, especially the old CVT with no launch gear.

It's still missing Android Auto which I want. Most every other compact car - Chevy, Ford, Honda, Mazda and Nissan has Android Auto, even the cheap Th Mistubishi Mirage has it. Toyota says they are working on it for seamless integration whatever that means. I don't know why it is more difficult to integrate than Apple CarPlay. I wish Toyota offer an upgrade on the previous Corolla like Mazda is doing for 2014-2018 model cars. The 2017-2019 Corolla is stuck with Entunes 2.0, while the 2020 gets Entunes 3.0, so for those of us who own the previous model Corolla, we are stuck with the old technology.

After renting a 2020 Corolla with less than 500 miles on it, and putting about 1,500 miles on the odometer through California, Nevada and Utah, my honest take on the car is that while it's refined and has a nicely designed interior, the suspension is a bit too stiff/harsh for comfort on California's bumpy roads. Even more disappointing though is that the electric steering feel actually regressed in this current generation; the previous Corolla's electric steering felt heavier (and much more direct) at higher speeds, while the 2020 Corolla is far too light at freeway speeds, and felt like it was slightly wandering from side to side. Definitely better steering feel from the Civic, Forte or Elantra. Unsure why Toyota couldn't get the steering right...drive one of their newest generation Camry's, and the steering feel and accuracy is a lot more precise.
