I think a q tip would’ve been a better option but the paintbrush is way better than just spraying it lol. Love the vids

Using a q tip might be easier and cleaner than that paint brush.

Great job on the hood struts and under hood lighting. To avoid the potential of forgetting to turn off the lights you could use normally open switch. That way when you open the hood the switch contacts would close and send the voltage to the lights. Those switches can be purchased on Amazon. A question. I have just bought a 2019 Toyota Tacoma limited. I know you have the 2020 model. I want to install the bed lights like you put in yours but I don’t believe the wiring is as simple with yours. I’m wondering if the harness connections are also in the 2019 Tacoma. If not I would have to run them the length of the truck and try to find that outside circuit in the fuse compartment. Do you happen to know if the harness is there in the back in the 2019 Tacoma? Thanks! Your videos are amazing! I’m a retired Mechanical Engineer with Caterpillar Tractor.

So much easier, faster, and less complicated to buy the no-drill hydraulic strut set. I did it in about 10 min with a lot less tools.

Just use a q tip for the holes, much cleaner and easier
@bsfunk444 жыл бұрын
When using a step bit it helps to wrap some masking tape around the step on the bit you want to drill to, to avoid going too far and ending up with a bigger hole than desired. Stretching electrical tape around the bit works even better.
@edwardlucas83333 жыл бұрын
...or just use the correct size bit. This really isnt the situation for a step bit. Just because it works, doesn't make it correct.

Cool idea! But one of the reasons I bought my taco was I'll never have to open to hood.

I would recommend using stainless steel metal self threading screws / bolts rather than those pop rivets. Why a company goes to all the trouble to make a quality product and then put some junk in there to assemble it just baffles me. The "nipples" are actually called balls or knuckles that insert into the sockets. Thanks for the video.

My only problem with the hood rod is that it should be a bit longer.

Agree
@edwardlucas83333 жыл бұрын
If I may....You could probably have gotten away with grounding the lights to the hood using a couple inches of wire instead of running all that black wire back to the ground stud. Second, using thinner loom for one wire and dressing it up neater would have made it a much cleaner install....add finding a lighter colored loom would have been even cleaner. Lastly, switch or not, I would never run a wire that's connected to the battery. Tape (insulate) the end near the termination point, and connect it to the battery LAST.
@OmarConAche3 жыл бұрын
Why not just use a pressure switch like whats used for the door? Makes the lights "automatic". A person could pick one up cheap at a junk yard or even a cheap after market one from a parts store. It's what we used to do back in the day for door switches when wiring up an alarm system. .02

i swear i hate the idea of drilling anything metal on a brand new truck, it makes me want to just buy a full set of body panels & whatever i'd drill holes in, encase I wanted to go back.
