This is actually a VERY honest video!!! I have a 2019 (bought it new in Jan 0f 2019) Tacoma Off Road Double Cab...I've put 61,XXX miles on it so far! I own a horse farm on a river so a LOT of those miles are in 4x4 in mud and muck and hills. A friend asked me yesterday about how I liked it - she is considering buying either a Ranger or Tacoma - as their 3rd vehicle (needing a truck for going camping , kayaking, etc). I started mentioning a lot of the things you talk about - Ok seats, non refinements, etc. At one point she said, it seems as if it has a lot of bad things...I said actually I think it is the best vehicle I've ever owned - anf the only small truck I would consider. We own Shutzhund German Shepherds - they are not the best at anything, but they are probably in the top 5 of most everything and IMO the best animal on the planet. The Tacoma has a lot of fanboys - who ruffle at any critiques...there is no need to be thin skinned about the Tacoma, it isn't - it is tough as nails. SPOT ON REVIEW!

Larry Vang I would call it adequate in both regards. As I said in the video, the transmission is one of the biggest letdowns. It's a little hunty at slower speeds and it neuters some of the engine's power making it slower than it should be.

I have had 7 Nissan trucks ranging from Hardbodies to 1st and 2nd gen Frontiers. Current daily driver is a 13 Titan. As someone who tows boats, cars and more I can tell you Nissan makes a great truck.

It's still under-powered (and will be until they put a V6 in it), and the interior could use some updating, but otherwise I really liked it and I hope Jax gets to take a look at it. I'd like to watch his review. The Soul really impressed me with how much stuff you could put in it. The one I had came with a dinky little 1.4L and had trouble climbing normal hills unloaded. The 2.0L can do that with ease, but still lacks the power I'm expecting. I might need to adjust my expectations, but I had no problems recommending the 2018 version, even with my complaints.

Good review funny too. . I'm actually planning to replace my Jeep Liberty CRD with a Tacoma but probably going for SR5 trim depends on $$. I have to agree the Frontier is way out of date. Ranger had an excellent feeling engine and seat but the whole dash lay out and materials were trash. Rangers ride was harsher too. It probably won't be as relaible as the Toyota and that's important cuz I want to keep it maybe 10 +years. I don't think I care for the GM trucks at all or trust they will hold up same with the newer Jeep's. For my camping trips, trips to Lowe's and daily driving I think Tacoma is the best truck for me.

The Toyota reliability is what pushed me towards Toyota. I'm still looking at either a new Tacoma or CPO Tundra. I was looking at a Ram 1500 Laramie before, but me and Chrysler have some really bad history, and after reading about MDS engines, I want nothing to do with them. Even though Ram is supposed to be its own thing, I'm deeply suspicious of anything that Chrysler touched. My last Jeep Wrangler, a 2012, was so horrific that I swore off anything Chrysler, so although Ram trucks are the better value proposition, I think I'm better off passing them up for a brand that doesn't bring up such bad memories. I've owned two Toyotas (both early-90's Camrys) and been extremely happy with each. I can live with cloth over leather interior so long as I can get the seat into a comfortable spot. Actually, cloth would probably be best, since I like to take my dog to the park and he likes to shed everywhere. He also likes to roll around in the dirt, so a cloth interior with rubber floor mats and hard plastics will be easier to keep clean. The Toyota name goes a long way towards reassuring people like me, as long as they continue to make quality products. They're about the only brand of used car I'll even consider. I know the Top Gear episode where they tried to destroy a Hylix was satire, but the point remains salient. For those of us who rely on a vehicle that absolutely must start every day, it's hard to beat a Toyota, and we're willing to pay the price premium and forgo features to get it. EDIT: grammar is a thing.
@MrMikey12734 жыл бұрын
@@Dirtyboxer1 I'm definitely going to be giving up a little creature comforts with a new truck. I have never owned brand new always got used. My current Jeep is a Limited with all the options, leather, power heated seats and roof. I can't afford that in anything reliable that's new with all that stuff. But can live without. Cloth seats are ok. I don't need a sun roof that will eventually leak either. I really only need what comes with the SR5 v6 Tacoma. Willing to give up some things to get new and a reliable vehicle. I've had the Jeep nearly 11 years and replaced a transmission even though it's all well maintained. I want a good long ownership experience that is why I'm going to go with Toyota. A few months more of saving up like mad I'll have my big down payment to pull the deal off.

@@jax1079 Hopefully. It’s very rare to be witty and funny in a quick way. The lows home depot stuff had me cracking up.

Not as handsome as the Ranger? Wtf? A 10 year old Frontier looks better than a Ranger.

I would take a Hilux rugged x if the sold them in the US lol. Hilux is way better then the tacoma bro

It would be interesting to see how they stack up against each other.... Now I kind of want to film that test! Tacoma vs Hilux!

You look like you enjoy reviewing saabs..too much "trash" talk.

Well I am secretly an architect, so my garage is full of Saabs. I have one for each day of the week, but I was unable to make heads or tails of this strange contraption known as the pickup truck because I’m clearly not manly enough to own one.

LOOK UP TACOMA FRAME RUST------ These Toyota trucks have long Historys of weak frames...My buddys 2020 was rear-ended in a 5 mph impact and it bent the frame. Then theres the Tacomas literally breaking in Half.....from rust
@jax10794 жыл бұрын
The rust situations seem to have been addressed on two separate occasions and affected trucks more in certain regions. I would also note that the big three have not been free from stupid recalls, either, some of which were more serious than others.

Rust problem will never go away from people even though it has been addressed. 🤦🏻♂️

Depends on what you want it for, but if you’re looking for the best trucky truck that will last forever, there’s no beating a Tacoma.
