Running Down a Dream no it isn’t. Mike Smith said that he was looking all over the place. This was a combo of Authentic being a looky loo, Mike Smith easing him prematurely, and NY Traffic finding an extra gear at just the wrong moment. Horse needs blinkers

@@vambo13257 Mike Smith said after the race Authentic was very defocused in stretch. He also said that he just kept it and hoped he could still make it and win and he did.

Smith thought he had it put away and didnt ask him to run. almost got him caught.

Watching this race again.. I noticed a few things.. Authentic is a mover. He carried his cruising speed better then any horse I've seen in awhile.. He should have dusted that competition.... Then you have Mike Smith.. A lazy ride start to finish. Damn near stopped riding after the 3/8ths pole.. What is up with that? For such a great mover of a horse, Mike still had problems keeping his rhythm throughout the trip. Watch and see how often he loses rhythm with the horse.. As a trainer, it's maddening to think a guy who rides at that level is so bad.
