2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country - Review

Volvo's smaller wagon gets a little more versatile in 2020 with the Cross Country model. Found here sporting its T5 engine and all-wheel drive, it is one of the most desirable models Volvo makes. It's beautiful inside and out, and it's a pleasure to drive as well. Now, let's see if we can convince Charlie to give up the keys.

Nice review. My wife and I bought the D4 polestar, fully customized. B&W, loungepack (vented seats with massage), sunroof etc etc. Pearl white metallic. We have had it for 6 months now, and I seriuosly love it more and more. Perfect car if you want practicality and just the right ammount of luxury without overdoing things. 10/10 :)

I bought this same car with black interior, I love it! The Bowers is amazing, very solid car, comfortable and great combination of mpgs and power. I've always loved turbo 4 cylinders. I grew up driving Saabs. Now I LOVE VOLVOS.

I just bought my V60 CC Thursday. Out the 11 Volvos I’ve owned, this is by far the best. I find it to be the best of their design language while keeping a lot of space and utility. I catch myself just staring at it, there’s not a bad angle on this car.

They're really doing a great job these days. We just had the BMW M340i, and I'd still take the V60 over it.

Great review - realize I'm rather late in the day but am off to buy a 2020 V60 CC on Saturday (sadly less most of the extras these press cars seem to be loaded with) - even so I simply can't wait. I've owned 3 Volvos previously back in the UK, the last being one of the early V70 diesels in probably the late 90s early 2000s which went like a train, having started with an 850 estate in '95. Volvo have come a long way since then - I just pray they don't cut the line because of the US market's lack of interest in wagons ('estates' in my language) ... wagons are quite simply the coolest most practical car there is - fact. And this V60 CC is a stunning testimony to that - if I may be so bold.

This car should sell better. The previous model xc70s (renamed cc) sold well and the model before that sold very well. This is more sophisticated than those and more stylish. America has almost abandoned the wagon, this should be a top-selling Volvo. This car has so much appeal. It is both functional and stylish.

Fixed head rest are for crash safety. Volvo spent a large amount of time and research on the seats. Picking up my 2020 V60 CC next week. Replacing my 2017 model.

Great review of an outstanding vehicle. I went V90CC for the nicer seats, T6 motor and they seem to have more V90's equipped with the B&W system. Love Volvo, and wagons👍

I enjoy my T5 xc60 inscription. this is quite similar. two rear booster seats were a selling point. polestar from factory. Best overall daily driver. there is a bit of torque steer which i highly doubt was intentional and the front tires spin out when accelerating off the line if the road is wet. at least it isn’t boring to drive!

Word on the street is Volvo doesn’t do power adjustable steering for safety reasons. If someone is stuck in the car due to a crash, it’s easier to move the steering column if it has manual motion rather than by gears/electronics.

Thanks for the video, I currently have a Volvo V 60 T5 non-cross country as a rental, I’ve had it for a few weeks now, previous to this I had a 2020 330 I. The T5 is plenty fast, but it’s not exciting. The exhaust note is nonexistent, and it can sound a little diesel like at times. It is not at all efficient relative to the 330 I, yes it’s a wagon but still I’m getting like 24 miles per gallon 50-50, the 330i was getting 31mpg. The BMW is not nearly as comfortable both the seats and the ride, the run flats on the three theories are awful, this car rides like a dream, even without the comfort package seats like your cross country has. It really is a stunning little wagon, and I wish more people would buy them...

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, the manual tilt and telescoping steering wheel is so in the case of a crash you can exit the vehicle

9:50 The reason Volvo don't use a power adjust steering mechanism, is because in a serious crash it wouldn't function, and might prevent the driver being easily removed.

Technically the t5 can use 87 octane. According to the Volvo website. Solid review.

And for the steering column adjustment, Volvo says it is safer in a crash to have an manualy adjustable steering column. That just shows that Volvo is one of the rare brands that really go into safety. I mean all other brands are very safe at this point, dont get me wrong, but which one of them will sacrifice the luxury in a 100000 dollar car with a manual old school adjustable steering column just for the sake of safety, and thats why I think Volvo is still the safest car on the market, because they are prepared to get criticised for sake of safety.

This is true, and also considering the mid-tier system would likely sound very good as well. However, if you really care about the best sound in your vehicle, it's nice to have the option.

You're mentioning spec'ing the car with options it doesn't have (such as the T5 is the Only Engine option) - that and some other details here and there (like the wheels). Sounds like you haven't done your research. All in all an okay review. You did bring up some good points with the cabin control interfaces, etc.
