It would make sense to have a counter rotating crank shaft. Yamaha excel in corner speed and handling. So with a counter rotating crank it'll just improve those 2 already strengths of the Yamaha R1. Would compete more in WSBK, AMA, BSB etc...

The stock pads are not ideal for long runs on a track, which is weird for a bike that makes so many compromises to be an all-out track bike.
