Why is the sound of Bo's antler base snapping off so satisfying?

Right? I always assumed the antler will crack at the base with some antlers remaining until new growth just pushes out the old base to the tip

He gave you a mean look when you pulled that antler off. That didn't hurt him did it?
@Welcometothecountry1163 жыл бұрын
Deer's antlers are honeycombed bone tissue. When the rut is ending the buck's testosterone goes way down, which makes the antler tissue break up. It takes a few weeks for the tissue to break up, and then the antlers shed. ... This does not cause the deer any pain.

@kramnancy1411 Жыл бұрын
@Prairie Haven Ventures You know even if you're not sure you should put him on some animal antibiotics.. My cat was under the weather and he wasn't breathing that well so I insisted the vet give him some antibiotics because I was worried about pneumonia His has difficulty breathing and sound very watery. Anyways we did an X-ray and the X-ray said bronchial pneumonia so I was right. Got some animal antibiotics called marbofloxicin. It's a 3rd generation antibiotic it's indicative for pneumonia. It's saddens me to know that maybe Bo didn't get any medical care or antibiotics.. Pneumonia is very bad it's your basically suffocating.. I gotta tell you I enjoyed seeing Bo on your videos he seemed like quite a pet it's a tragic ending to such a nice pet.. But if one of your animals seems out of sorts and it's not eating low energy . put your ear up to their mouth and see if you can hear some Watery sounds in there breathing. Marbifloxicin Is one of the strongest antibiotics. And I've had good results with it with my pets.

Why wasn't the base of the antler you pulled off bloody?
@Welcometothecountry1163 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a good answer for that But my best guess is if you look around the outside of the base there is kind of a wax ring I believe that is to cut off blood supply to the antler when they are ready to go hard horn That prevents the blood from getting in until the seal is broken. But that is just my best guess
@shedmachine85033 жыл бұрын
When a deer or any antlered game is ready to shed they don't bleed actually the blood supply is cut off in order for old growth to be cast for the next year's seasons growth, I've witnessed multiple species shed in the wild without a drop of blood but has a translucent effect when freshly shed. I've been shed hunting for almost 40 years & it wasn't until after witnessing multiple animals & dozens of conversations with big game biologists for Idaho F&G did I personally learn this mystery myself Sir so don't worry about not knowing

I imagine its like loosing a tooth as a child - initially painful, but a relief to finally be rid of. Bo was definitely surprised, but i doubt that hurt much. The stub was basically being held on by suction alone, hence the pop.
