Thanks for the thorough and honest review in real world conditions, Zack. To your early comment on the hazard lights flashing under emergency/sudden braking, this is a regulatory requirement in Europe to indicate that a driver (normally) is heavily/emergency/suddenly braking and not under normal, progressive braking. As a Canadian in an area with the worst drivers I've encountered after living internationally in many countries, I wish this safety feature would become a North American/Canadian requirement as well.

Older bikes say 10 years plus used that space under the seat really efficiently. It used to be a small compartment for tools, rain gear,chainlube can,disc lock,tire repair kit, etc. With modern electronics however this space slowly disappeared and got filled with control units and cables. Hence the time has come now to do something about it, and as it seems Aprilia was the first to think about it. I also think that they were pretty smart to do that especially considering the more comfy ergonomics this bike has.

All manufacturers should make daytime headlight modulation selectable these days. An important safety feature to help you get seen. I like the brakes activating the flashers. Back in the early 80 when I first started riding I dumped my bike right after a fresh rain in the gentlest of turns approaching a stop light twice two weeks apart. ABS would have saved me. Very minor damage but any accident can be bad if cars or various roadside fixed objects are involved. Even to this day none of my bikes have ABS equipped.

On the topic of rider/driver aids I feel theres a bit of a paradox. As a veteran auto dealership mechanic, I will say the biggest issue with driver aids is that they have bred out the requirement that people learn how to properly drive. Blind spot detection does not mean you no longer have to turn your head, and traction control does not mean the pedal/grip is a on/off switch instead of a rheostat. That said, I really wish people would learn to ride, or drive in or on a vehicle where they have to learn the foundations of control before getting a "aided" vehicle. I finally got my first bike with ABS and it is reassuring to me that should I surpass my ability there is a net that *may* help me out. But I try very hard to not get to that point, and aside from intentionally activating it to see how it feels, I have yet to *need* it (knocks on wood). Overall I think the aids are good, I just wish humans were better.

This bike is exacly what the 600's used to be when they were popular.
@f1hotrod5273 жыл бұрын
@Last_Raven My comment was stating that the 600’s used to be more sensible and cheaper. And 600’s did not have electronics back then because they did not exist. The 600’s of the 90’s and early 2000’s were still cooler than these new middleweight bikes. Screaming inline 4 will always be cooler than a parallel twin.
@f1hotrod5273 жыл бұрын
@Last_Raven it’s is not a sports bike with slightly more budget components and slightly more comfortable riding position that a liter bike, ohhh wait that’s exactly what it is. It is very similar to a CBR600 from the late 80’s through the 90’s.
@f1hotrod5273 жыл бұрын
@Last_Raven yeah sure. Everyone hated all sports bikes until the fireblade. They never sold a single one. And this Aprilia in no way captures the spirit of the 600 super sport bikes.
@f1hotrod5273 жыл бұрын
@Last_Raven they sold because many people liked them. They sold after the fireblade because many people liked them. And more people buy cars because many people want high tech and purchase cars because of it not in spite of it. I like how you take a sub section of people and apply their tastes to every human on earth. The fact is 600’s became too focused, to expensive and too impractical. But most people are going to buy the most cutting edge bike because people want what they perceive as the best. Now some manufacturers like Aprilia are coming back to more practical, livable and cost effective sport bikes, just like the first 20 years of the 600 class. I myself find the 4 cylinder 600’s more intriguing than these parallel twins because an inline 4 is more special . I think bikes like the CBR600 F4 were the sweet spot in middle weight sort bike design. Those bikes also looked cooler than modern sport bikes. Whatever, ride what you have and have fun Last_Raven.

There seems to be a huge difference in what makes a good daily bike in the US and most of the rest of the world. The US seems blessed with big, multi lane, fast city roads whereas the rest of us have narrow single lane streets with traffic jams. Horsepower and torque are everything in the U.S., less important elsewhere where nimble handling, good brakes and low speed manners are more important. Nice review though, good to hear another opinion. I have to say that there is no way I can agree with the Daily Rider board, how the hell are there two Ducati's in the top ten, their servicing cost and questionable reliability don't make for a great daily bike, and as for the Verseys, WTF? you need to get out more.

This has gone on my short list for my next bike. Glad Joesph asked about the VFR comp...as I have a sixth gen. Never selling it but would like a nimbler bike some days when hooning with friends. 546 pound viffer is not the best corner weapon

Bike reviewers talk about bikes styling all the time like bug eyes on the Triumphs (dorky). Its subjective but this looks stylish to me.

Finally got it! Coming from dirt bikes and supermotos, I was very nervous… but man, what a sweet ride. Gentle, but you can grow on it (electronics and adjustable programs). I agree on the shakiness of the side mirrors… pretty terrible.❤️🇮🇹

I like that mounting option under the pillion. I really just want to know how the reliability stacks up against the big 4’s.
