I’ve never heard of any transmission issues with the R8’s. If you get a first gen car go with the manual! I’ve had two and love my current one! The r-tronic in the first gens are very slow. The gated is a lot of fun! The second gens are sweet but I love the manual too much to get one, but they are quick and have more tech!

All the R8 models are going to be basically the same, the performance just has more horsepower and the all wheel drive so it won't make a difference on the road conditions. I would recommend getting the magnetic ride though, that will at least give you the comfort setting so it won't be as harsh. I believe the Performance comes with the fixed sport suspension, so that would be the biggest thing to opt for.

I haven't heard anything about the Audi R8 being discontinued, however, you'll still be able to buy one! I own a 2012 and it's the best car I've ever owned so even if they stop making it, you can still buy one! I don't think Audi will have another supercar to match the R8!

The rear wheel drive Audi R8 has less horsepower and torque, so stock for stock the AWD is going to be faster. If you tune the rwd then it could be faster!

I just ordered a couple 2022 AWD V10 Performance in the Daytona Gray Pearl with the red calipers and Audi Exclusive interior (Crimson Red on Black with contrast stitching). It's gonna be a long excruciating wait, but it will be worth it. Thanks for the great review! Quick question: I know there are speakers in the headrest with the B&O sound system, but are there also speakers behind the seats along that back wall (on the outsides of the cargo net)? I think I spotted speaker grills at the 9:36 mark. I have heard that the B&O speakers don't provide great bass, so I am going to add a low profile subwoofer and amp back there. I am trying to determine the best placement for that.

Congrats on the the purchase! The Audi R8 is an amazing car!! There are no speakers behind the seats! It could be different on the 2021, but my 2010 and 2012 don't have any even with the B&O system! I think the system is great! In my 2012 one of the previous owners added a sub on that tray behind the seats, which I think was a great placement, but I took it out because I didn't see a difference.

The Audi R8 is available in 2 variants. This one shown here is the 532 horsepower variant. The V10 Plus on the other hand, has just over 600 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The standard Audi R8 V10 shown here has a top speed just under 200mph. The Audi R8 V10 Plus can hit a top speed of 205mph due to its engine being tuned for more power.

FYI, small correction... The RWD version does NOT have MRC suspension, when you change the modes, it has ZERO effect on suspension. It uses fixed dampers and there is no MRC option.

Also, there are no suspension settings in any of the menus, if it had MRC, there would be settings for it in Individual Mode. Finally , I looked under the car and there are no electronic connections to the shocks. I don’t know who you talked to at Audi, or what market they were speaking to, but I can 100% guarantee that North America RWD R8’s do NOT have magnetic Ride Control, they have fixed traditional dampers. Next time you are with one in person, look under the car , you will not find any electronic connections.

It's definitely a sweet car! The all wheel drive has more power! The Audi R8 is a fast car, but geared differently than the Charger model. Those are designed for drag strips and track use. The R8 is still a great track car with performance, but not a monster like the hellcats!

For sure. I saw like a 2016 or so R8 the other day rolling aN older dude and His young son.. was white with the carbon accents looked really good. For some reason I really like the White on the R8. If they came with like 640hp and 580 TQ stock on a RWD model with a Warranty I’d consider getting one. No dissing them I’m sure they are fast I’m just used to obsurd torque off the line in the Cat.

Yeah when I took my cat to NJ motor sports park I just had it in 500hp mode and that was plenty enough. Conditions weren’t the best but I still did 140 in the straights. On track and twisty Roads your right you don’t even need that extra power. Peace!

@@samyb2834 Honestly both cars are pretty reliable. There are a ton of R8 owners with 100k miles on them and they just don't break. I'd trust either one to 100k! But idk about all that hybrid stuff lasting much past 150k or 10+ years. So I think over time the R8 will last longer since it's less complicated. Old hybrid cars wear out over time too

It's really not that harsh at all! In comfort mode it's fine, gets very stiff in the sport setting, but even in my 2012 it's a good ride for a supercar!

I love the consistency of quality with Audi Interiors but Audi struggle to make you feel special in their most expensive models. I've just bought a 2015 S5 and except for the screen behind the steering wheel the interior isn't that different in a 2021 R8!! When the pricetag is almost $180,000 it needs to be better than this Audi!

I can see that! But I also love how the interiors are pretty similar across the lineup because then you can get a base model A4 that still has a very nice interior! They do feel alike but you can still get higher quality materials like Alcantara and carbon which isn't offered on some lower models!

There's no way this car would be closer to $100K, I bought my 2012 manual v8 for around $80k, they really aren't overpriced. I'd never buy a new one though, and they are cheaper than the lambo versions!

@@choiwarz I have a first gen R8 and had to upgrade the exhaust too. Audi is known for having the performance, but are on the quieter side. The rest of the car is amazing!

I would definitely disagree with that. Have you ever been in this generation R8? It's a quick car, but at the same time speed isn't everything. This is a well balanced and precise mid engine car, it handles incredibly well and is so much fun to drive!

That's a tough one because they are both fun! To me it's hard to tell a difference between the performance especially just driving them normal. But a used r8 V10 plus will have already depreciated a good bit compared to buying brand new! They are amazing cars and I own a 2010, but I just couldn't buy a new one. The rear wheel is already $50k less, so maybe even finding a used one will be cheaper. Just depends on what you find with the options you like too!
